Well, here I am with Covid for the third time in 14 months. I have been living in Assisted Living for three years now. I never was sick before I moved in here. I even had RSV and pneumonia causing me to be hospitalized Christmas Day.
I am a very healthy person only on Thyroxin and vitamins. I walk 2-3 miles a day.
I am beginning to believe that the probably with my illnesses is this building. Everyone gets sick just like me all the time. My Assisted Living is upscale, modern and very clean. Some us are beginning to think that our illnesses are brought on by transmission from the staff. The last year they only quarantine us for 5 days. The staff only wears a mask when coming into my apartment. Some don’t even bother. Not wearing gloves and a gown I know is transmitting viruses to my fellow residents.
How can I approach this with my Exec Dir without alienating the whole staff against me. I am a retired RN and I know better. The staff are young and can fend off illnesses. They don’t think how seniors get a lot sicker than them. I guess they will not realize until they are 77 like me or like my fellow residents who are 80, 90 and one 101.
I would appreciate any input.
