Covid will never be gone.

Well, here I am with Covid for the third time in 14 months. I have been living in Assisted Living for three years now. I never was sick before I moved in here. I even had RSV and pneumonia causing me to be hospitalized Christmas Day.

I am a very healthy person only on Thyroxin and vitamins. I walk 2-3 miles a day.

I am beginning to believe that the probably with my illnesses is this building. Everyone gets sick just like me all the time. My Assisted Living is upscale, modern and very clean. Some us are beginning to think that our illnesses are brought on by transmission from the staff. The last year they only quarantine us for 5 days. The staff only wears a mask when coming into my apartment. Some don’t even bother. Not wearing gloves and a gown I know is transmitting viruses to my fellow residents.

How can I approach this with my Exec Dir without alienating the whole staff against me. I am a retired RN and I know better. The staff are young and can fend off illnesses. They don’t think how seniors get a lot sicker than them. I guess they will not realize until they are 77 like me or like my fellow residents who are 80, 90 and one 101.

I would appreciate any input.

I'm sorry that you have COVID yet again! I was under the impression that one is immune from another infection for at least 6 months after getting COVID. Can you take zinc? It helps to build the immune system. I didn't get colds after I started taking it regularly but I did get COVID from my son in October 2022. He's been living here since his wife died and we share common areas, of course. I believe if I had worn my mask after he got home from his trip to Chicago, I wouldn't have caught it. But who knows, maybe I would have anyway. And you're right, now that COVID is endemic like the common cold and the flu, it will never be gone.

You would think I would have some antibodies built up. I know I was weakened and that caused me to have such a bad case of RSV. I take zinc every day and Emerg C almost every day. My Doctor wants me to take the Pneumonia and RSV vaccine in September which I plan to, if I am not down with Covid.😔

Covid is a virus, and it mutates, or evolves, incredibly quickly. The broad term "Covid" contains many variants. It's important to know if you have Covid, but it's just as important to know which variant you have.

I've managed to avoid Covid totally, but I'm jabbed, and I don't socialize a great deal. Not to mention - blind luck.

You can wear a mask when dealing with helpers, and you can thoroughly clean after they've been in your space.

I hope you recover well.

Okay, here is mine.

Walking 2-3 miles a day is excellent, but putting known toxic chemicals in your body is not healthy.
Why are your thyroid hormones low? Have you been drinking coffee or tea?
The key is to find a solution without drugs. A toxic condition will not be solved by taking toxic substances.

I am a retired RN and I know better.
Or perhaps that's why you're overlooking the issue.
You think you know, but you keep getting sick, and taking a toxic drug is not healthy.

Here are just a few of the numerous effects caused by Thyroxin ingestion.
> sudden pain or trouble moving your hip, wrist, or back;
> fast or irregular heartbeats;
> chest pain, pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder;
> wheezing;
> fever, swollen glands, itching, joint pain, or not feeling well;
> nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;
> high blood sugar - increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, fruity breath odor.

that will not be solved by ingesting additional toxic substances. Plus I believe you got several of the clot shots already.

No I did not take any Covid vaccines. I did not start having Covid until one year ago. I have hypothyroidism. That is why I take thyroxine daily, dosage based on lab results.

I don’t drink coffee. Can’t stand the taste or smell. Also no tea, makes my kidneys hurt.

Do you have any kind of resident committee? I'd say numbers of people speaking would be the best.

I don't know how much they would care. It's for profit and you are right, the workers are young and some of them young and dumb. I've been there partially myself.

Don't be afraid to demand that someone coming into your personal apartment wear a mask. I know that can be hard to do. Advocating for ourselves. I'm sorry you got sick yet again. I'm still wearing a mask at work and when out and about.

I'm not trying to be combative @John cycling but all medications have side effects. I agree to take as little as needed.

But what is someone to do if they are lacking enough thyroid hormone. You didn't suggest alternatives. Do you know of any?
