Anyone here like collecting coins, there is talk of Australia becoming cashless by 2026, I like collecting unusual coins and hope that that never hapens, I also like to buy things with cash and not use a credit card.

My husband was an avid coin collector of Australian pennies. He eventually found a rare 1930 Australian penny. He told his brother-in-law who knew a Butcher who would be willing to pay him a good sum for it. They went to see the Butcher and he offered him $200(aud.) for it and my husband sold it. He gave his brother-in-law $50.00 and the rest he spent buying new clothes and a few beers with his friends. If they had it now, it could be worth a few hundred thousand dollars. This was back in 1956.

I started collecting coins in my mid-teens, and still have most of them. Just my wheat pennies weigh over 50 lbs. I intend on going thru them to look for valuable collectables. The majority of my silver coins have already been gone through, and the collectable valued coins got traded for silver... One Mogan $ netted me over $400, and replaced with scrap valve coins and have almost doubled in value.

I have 35 1 once silver coins. Silver is going up in value FAST. It is at $29 an once. We got these for trade for housecleaning valued then at about $36 20 years ago. Then the price kept falling, so we held on to them. We are watching this with some excitement. What if the go up to $50 an ounce? I could get about $1500!

I gave my collection to my grandsons. I have saved a few special coins from my travels. A 50p coin commemorating 50 yr anniversary of D-Day, a square coin from Aruba. and a 50 franc coin from Tahiti, and a 5 shilling coin from Kenya.
