Decaf coffee is not safe?

for most people, consuming moderate amounts of decaffeinated coffee is unlikely to cause harm

I agree with this statement, as I said upthread - but I doubt there is much benifit to drinking it either

I would take the view it is neutral - ie no likelihood of harm in sensible doses, no likelihood of benifit either.

I haven't Googled anything about this question yet, but... What about the caffeine that is extracted (mainly from coffee, so far as I know) that is then used by industry to produce caffeinated soft-drinks that are on the market? Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Dr Pepper are commercial drinks that go way back, but there are many more these days.

Is the caffeine itself contaminated? Coca Cola began to incorporate it more than a century ago, I think — substituted for the cocaine which the company realized was a proven addictive substance... by that era, even Freud warned against cocaine.

I asked "How is the caffeine extracted to get into coca-cola?"
and "Can any harm come from the chemicals used in the extraction to a human being?"

the answers are too spooky and LONG to copy and paste. They use dangerous chemicals, but the caffeine has levels that are far below concern levels.

Decaf coffee has a different flavor. And I had to give up regular coffee, because after drinking it, I can't sit still and read - I shake all day long.
