Who else used to select from those "rip and sniff" samples that came bound into magazine pages and put them into drawers of clothing?
Ceder repels certain insects, too. The wardrobe in my cabin is made of ceder wood and so are the pantry shelves.I can barely walk down that aisle in the grocery stores. I know the products I want and get out of there.
Usually these had a lavender scent - from the real thing. Or they could have been slivered cedar wood chips. Women used to have a closet lined with cedar to keep clothes fresh.
That's a good idea!Who else used to select from those "rip and sniff" samples that came bound into magazine pages and put them into drawers of clothing?
Me! I thought it was just me that did this!Who else used to select from those "rip and sniff" samples that came bound into magazine pages and put them into drawers of clothing?
I think some folks take it up a notch and swim in itA lady working at the perfume counter when I was young told me to spray it in the air & walk into it so you didn't over do it
I'm a sucker for Farenheit on a man ....I used to like Paco Rabanne- Million for men and Lady Million..., but every man/woman and their dog started wearing it, and altho' it isn't cheap it cheapened it for me...Since this was started by fuzzybuddy I'm guessing mens after shave will be OK to post about
Prior to my wife asking me to shave my head to see how bald looked this was her favorite after shave for me.
Fahrenheit Aftershave Lotion by Christian Dior for Men,3.4oz
The smell is great but doesn't dissapate so going out smelling like I bathed in it. NOT GOOD!
After it is Lectric shave for after shaving face & head. The alcohol content works great to get rid of that close shave burn AND more importantly dissapates really fast.
My dad was an Old Spice guy. I like Old Spice myself but I've never used any kind of men's perfume or cologne or even after-shave.My dad used to use Aqua Velva back in the 70’s![]()

Hi @ Lilac, I also had a couple family members like your MIL who put@LadyEmeraude, your mention of dryer sheets reminded me of all of those dryer sheets we pulled out of the closets & dressers my MIL put all over when we cleaned out her house. My SIL, who lived with her at the time, said her mom thought it made the house smell better. SIL thought they were nice too. OMG did those stink. I hoped the smell would subside before we had it on the market. Luckily the fresh paint in the house took that nasty smell away.
I don’t mind perfumes however I find some people use too much. Perfume isn’t meant to be bathed in. I worked with a woman who literally marinated herself in it and she smoked. Whenever she went out to smoke she’d freshen up her perfume. It was so strong that my clothes reeked of cigarettes and perfume by the end of the day and I couldn’t wait to go home and shower.
I wear a very light scented body lotion and powder.
