On my early morning walk at 6:30,was a tad nippy temp was 34 as I walked halfway on my street, birds were chirping, sun was out
Yesterday afternoon I saw my new apt at Canterbury Woods the retirement place I'm moving to end of May. My close friend, Marcia came with me, Adam{sales dir who I've liked from day 1} took us
We walked in and I said' WOW", kitchen has granite countertop, dark brown cabinets.I'll have space to put things in the cabinets since I don't cook. All new appliances frig/ electric stove/microwave/ dishwasher, new carpeting. The living room has 4 windows will get the morning sun, .Marcia took pictures as I was looking around. I was cking out the bedroom ,the closet looking out the 1 window, all of a sudden I got emotional, didn't cry but it hit me this was going to be my new home Our church friend, Bill{ he moved in a yr ago} his apt is like mine except he has 3 windows in his livingrm was helpful as well
This morning ,my plan walk to Walgreens will take me 25 min to Walgreens, need couple items. It's too nice a day to pack.I'll do that tomorrow-rain in the forecast
Sounds wonderful. 🤗

Sunny,,,low 50's but feels warmer.

Yesterday I mounted the new canvas I bought for the new picture frame ..

After a struggle I got it hung in my office room today to replace My Monochrome Chanel one in the white frame, which I'll hang somewhere else in the house. . What I hadn't realised with this frame was that the picture hook was a cheap metal thing that lay almost flat to the back of the frame and couldn't be prised open , so it was almost impossible to get a picture hook to slide into it...especially at height, because I was on the top of a ladder , and stretching over my desk..

Finally I tied some cord to it and made a loop, and even tho' I couldn't see the back of the picture to hang it.. and standing precariously with one leg on the desk and the other on the ladder I finally got it up. *phew*

the light from the window is shining across it so it looks like it has a line half way across, but it doesn't..

It looks very small in this picture, but it's 3 feet by 2 '' so pretty big...

A windy, sunny day here.
Have walked the dog,, checking out the weeds I sprayed yesterday.
Thistles look like they are dying,, dandelions not so much.

Hubby is off helping his brother & nephew, 'set up' a big old apple tree.
Hope all goes well with that.

So many things I want to get done,,, where to start?

What to make for lunch??
OR will nephew's wife offer hubby a meal? ((crossing fingers )

Got a delivery of some Bulk paper goods.. had to go up to the shed, and haul stuff around to make space for these big packages of Loo roll, etc... .. they are much bigger than the packs I usually get from Costco.. so extra space had to be found for them. Didn't do my back much good, what with lifting those things and carrying them up the garden.., twisting in a small space trying to make room, and hauling heavy garden tools out of the way.. then doing my acrobatics on the desk and ladders trying to hang the picture.. ...so I have to rest my back now, maybe a heat pad...

The sun has gone in and the cloud is making it feel cold, so I've closed most of my windows again.. but I do like to have them open wide whenever I can which is most days, to let the house be aired. ..but I don't want it to be so cold that I have to put the heating on.

Just sitting here today. I've been unwell, but I may very well be coming out of it now. Missed a hospital appointment, but there was no way I was going to make it. That means waiting another month for the next appointment...... still, my fault.

I want to thank my dog. Without him I'd of melted into the sofa. However, he needs to go out, no matter how I feel. He also barks at me when he wants a snack, and let's me know when the mailman comes to the door. Plus he makes me happy because his tail wags and wags. Even if I'm down, he's having none of it. Good boy!

Another day, another dollar. I'm home.

I had grand plans about expanding part of a flower bed today, but geez! I'm tired. I did get a can of spray paint and painted a line from one end to the other where I want to dig up grass. Right now I'm just going to sit on my dead center and veg. Maybe I'll do more later. Or not.

I'm tired of not having the stamina to do what I want to do

just think of everything your heart has supported you in doing in 80 some odd years and how it's kept you going in the most strenuous, and worrying.. and exciting times... just allow it to have a little rest now.. sometimes.. :sneaky:🤗

I got a second wind and did some more digging up of the grass where the expanded flower bed will be. Maybe, just maybe, can finish it tomorrow. Or Sunday. It's hard work. This time I really am tired. It might be nap time.
Please be careful doing that kind of work. I can't think of any gardening job more strenuous than digging up grass/sod! I absolutely hate it!! It would be nice if you could find someone younger to do that kind of work for you. If you can't, please pace yourself. A very little at a time. It's grueling work 🥵

Hope you feel better soon, VJB! Your dog is making sure you still CAN get up before he worries.

Rumours............❤

My SIL got a bit lost coming from Virginia so we went past our destination and met her then directed her the right way to her son's house. So, I didn't get to see the little 🐎🐎's. Next time.
I had pot roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, and turnip greens at Cracker Barrel. DH had Grandma Sampler. We were both fulfilled like only people our age can know. 😉

And then the third wind kicked in so a little more got done. I found an easier way to do it than with the garden spade. Got down on my hands and knees and used my little garden claw thingie. I can for sure finish tomorrow if it doesn't get too hot. On Sunday I'll clean out the weeds in the part that's already there and add more garden soil to even it all out.

Can't transplant a peony that needs to be moved until it's finished flowering in a couple of weeks. Then going to get a few more peonies and two Chinese fringe flower bushes that I want there up against a fence.

It's gonna be pretty.

And yes, I'll be careful and pace myself. No choice! I get too tired and have to give it up and rest.

Gardening keeps me off the streets. Jussayin'...

I survived driving to NYC on Wednesday and have settled into my teensy hotel studio. This one has a dishwasher and it works really well, it is a pretty good place (a relief after reading all the horrible reviews). Only annoyance is that they loan people toasters that don't have auto pop-up, and in consequence every morning (okay I've only been here two days, but it has been "every" of those two mornings) the fire alarms go off and we all have to go outside until the fire department shows up and allows us back in.

Yesterday I went on a 'free' (except tips expected) walking tour of a few NYC parks and neighborhoods. And today I went to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I'm feeling a lot more confident on the subway system already, though how anyone got around before Google maps directions (or other navigation apps) I cannot imagine.

View from the boat heading toward the Statue of Liberty, and then a view of NYC from the top of the Pedestal section (that's as high as the elevator goes, and my feet and knees are too old to try to do the stairs to the crown).
