Interesting comments between seniors

After retiring I started a part time job driving cars part time at an auto auction. I needed to be active outside, and in my case I feel a need to have a daily routine. When Covid imposed a lot of restrictions on what we do and how, I decided I would no longer pursue that part time job. When telling my wife about my decision, she gave me one of her thought provoking responses. She said, "well it's up to you, but I'll miss you not being gone." As I reflect on those words I still think I got the bad end of our little discussion.

I know what she meant..:D

I have a very close friend who is 5 days older than me. We have known each other for over 30 years now. We met for lunch the other day and she made some off handed remark about how she will will "go" before I do. As silly as it sounds I kind of took offense to that and told her that I will certainly be the first to "go" since I did lead a rather unhealthy lifestyle earlier in my life. We bantered back in forth on this subject for about ten minutes and then I think we both realized at the same time that the topic was rather morbid and moved on to other things.

Good one!! :) Just wait until you start slowly falling apart and then you start leaving parts of yourself lying around the house, her comments become less clever. :)

My husband is five years younger, so we think I'll go first, but then he has A-fib and gets blood clots at times, but then I have high blood pressure, but then he drives crazy, but then I'm usually in the passenger seat... it goes on and on.

Sounds sort of depressing Della. .... haha ....

Here was a conversation between 2 residents that I overheard a few years ago, at the nursing home where I work.

Resident #1 (female): "What?"
Resident #2 (male): "I didn't say anything."
Resident #1: "Of course you didn't say anything! You don't know anything!"
