Fed up? Feel free to vent here, and get it off your chest!

Our postal service does not seem to be working any longer, except for ads, junk mail, etc. My daughter sent me a Mothers Day card on Monday. Today it's six days later, and I still haven't gotten it. It did have to fly across the country, but come on!
I give the postal service quite a work out. We order a lot from Amazon, and I get all my meds through the mail. Rain or shine that young lady gets things to us with a smile. I use the USPS informed delivery app to see when things are arriving along with vendor alerts to give me a heads up. What gets me is when all those tell me it was delivered, but not, and all I can get is an automated response.

We use the informed delivery option also. What happens with us is that some of the mail carriers just do not bother to deliver packages some days, even when it says the package is out for delivery that morning.
Then, we find the message on Amazon that it was not delivered because the “mailman could not find our house”, so please check the delivery address. And then they tell us to pick it up at the post office.
This can happen even on days when the mailman delivers other mail to our house, but somehow misses the amazon package, but the mailman logs it in as not being able to find our address.
The next day, they always deliver it.

We live in a pretty small town, so there isn't much chance they can't find our house. When I get med from the VA I get what is supposed to be an advance alert from the VA, most times it comes the day of delivery. Honestly, I think the postal delivery persons do a good job. One morning I noticed her bringing 3 or 4 large amazon boxes to our door. I knew we didn't order anything that large. She was so embarrassed that they were addressed to 404 instead of our home at 304.

I helped her put them back in the vehicle. In that case I probably would have taken them to the right house, even though we are not supposed to do that. Our son frequently had mail being delivered to the house across the street from him. The 94 year old man who received them would often open them before noticing it wasn't his. After the old man passed away, our son commented that he would miss having his mail opened for him.;)

I am fed up with frivolous news or distorted and emotional charged news, instead of real unbiased information that we need for making good decisions. I miss Walter Cronkite.
Seems like even getting a hang nail is BREAKING NEWS. I sometimes turn on the local news to catch the weather early in the morning if I'm going somewhere. After about 20-30 minutes it is just a loop with the same news item repeated over and over. I agree, Walter Cronkite was called the most trusted man in America, and for good reason. No editorializing, just the facts. But please don't tell me you get your news on facebook, please.

The mailman has no problem finding our house either, but when they forget to deliver a package, this is the reason they give, even on days when they may have delivered one package (or other mail) but miss one. No matter what, they blame it on us, and the mailman the next day will sometimes tell us that the other mailman didn’t deliver any packages, so they have to do two days package delivery the next day.

We also sometimes get packages that belong the next block over, and have taken them to the proper address. It seems like you never know how long it will take for a package to be delivered nowdays. I mailed hand-knitted socks and slippers to my son and family clear out in Washington state, and they arrived in about 3 days, but we have stuff from amazon that comes from much closer than that, and it can be shuffled around by the post office for over a week sometimes.

4 weeks, now that is outrageous! Our mail leaves our town and goes to another town 2 hours away and back again here, yeah, real cost effective and so much better for the customers!!!! Yeah Right!!!
Couple months ago I had a small package originally sent from Indiana. The USPS tracking showed that it made progress to St. Louis and then on to Nashville. Instead of reaching us say a day later, I was watching it in the tracking app as it went back and forth between St. Louis and Nashville three times. When I got a request for a review from the seller, and responded with the facts, the vendor shipped another one that arrived the next morning. The original package finally arrived, and I offered to return it to the seller. They told me to consider it early Christmas shopping and just re-gift it.

That's a frequent discussion in our house. My wife tells me to just turn down my hearing aids, until the show comes back on and I can't hear it.
Catch 22

Dear forum friends. Ya think you have something to complain about the Post office..then try living with Royal Mail

£1.35 for ONE postage stamp.. that's $1.68 cents US ... and then getting a second/third class mail delivery for it ...why ?...because the govt want everyone to deal with digital ( not that they admit it ) .. then they have control....
Since they drive on the wrong side of road it probably goes to someone across the street at delivery time anyway.

that's another £1..you owe me....
The out going Post Master General left three envelopes in the desk for his successor to open each time there was a crisis. Opening #1 the new guy read the note, "Start a reorganization plan." Opening #2 the new guy read the note, "Get a new computer system." Opening #3 the new guy read the note, "Prepare three envelopes."

I know what you mean because about a month ago it took one week for me to get a letter from across town, the same town I live in.

Just think how much it will cost me to send that you. Give a guy a break.:coffee:
yes well remember every time you make a joke about cars having steering on the wrong side, or roads etc.. you owe me £1...... and just remember too to save yourself some money, you might do well to remember we had roads and houses, and shops. before you even had a country.. so whose driving on the wrong side huh? :sneaky::p

RANT: This ZIPPO lighter doesn't work ?!?!?!
Paperwork with it didn't even explain how to install a flint ... or fill it. Shoot
Surprisingly, I found a use for it opening envelopes and cutting string
So not sending it back
EDIT: and apparently ZIPPO upside down and backwards is oddiz

NEVERMIND: Zippo owns Case Cutlery and this is not a lighter after all. It's a pocket knife.

On another forum there's a regular poster who's given to multiple bragplaints daily about how much money she and her DH have (apparently millions!) and wondering if it'll last until they die. They also have a special needs DD that they've got set up so that in case they outlive her, there's plenty allocated for her care.

Nothing ever seems to suit her. Too much work, too much pain, too much of every negative thing she can think of. It's rare that she posts anything cheerful or upbeat. She'll ask for advice/help but doesn't try it, only recitations of why it won't work (without trying).

She's 10 years younger than I am, but another of her incessant complaints is how hard it is to get old. Yup. It's hard, but multiple posts daily don't make it better or stop the clock.

It gets tiresome, and I don't ever bother to respond because she's a chronic gritch, only happy when she's miserable. Glad I don't know anyone IRL like that!

Us Meracons can really be a pest. I have thoroughly enjoyed my visits to other countries, and marvel at some of the timeless sites preserved. By comparison we are still a young nation, with our own issues. I don't like some of the things happening these days in the US. I put my faith in the long term, meaning that I think the pendulum tends to swing both ways, and my hope is that common sense eventually regains a foothold correcting the flow of things going the wrong way.

I just can't understand modern 'music'.
Have tried my most patient accepting best, but the tunes (60's & 70's rock)
simply warm my being - foot tapping, air guitar playing, head bobbing
great-memories MUSIC is the only genre for me!
This might be one of the secrets to the success of Taylor Swift and Beyonce. We can actually sing along with their songs, like in the 1970s.

I AM SO FRICKIN' SICK AND TIRED OF SPICY EVERYTHING! THERE ARE MANY OTHER FLAVORS IN THE WORLD BESIDES FRICKIN' SPICY.

Next up: the Spicy Big Mac. I might buy one of those just to throw it at McDonald's if they do that.

I'm sick of going to restaurants and they don't give you chips or bread anymore to eat as you wait for your meal because their doing so poorly with labor and food costs that they have cut out that nicety.

I was at a restaurant yesterday and the restroom was a MESS. I know why - they are probably short staffed and have no one to clean it. but holy ***, it was Mother's Day - many women using that restroom. PLAN for that. I've been in nicer burger place restrooms.

Here is your handbasket - you know where we're headed America! Inflation is going to hurt a lot of people.

After you key in your account number, that you had to look up, then wade through layers of automated options, and finally get a live warm body on the end of the line they want your account number, address, name of your first born, and the color of the shirt you're you wearing. All that said it recorded for someone's training purpose. When the first CSR can't help you, look forward to all these steps again so that their manager can solve the world's worst problem. I think you get my point, it's a two hour labor of endurance to find out you just need to reboot it all for the third time.
Which is just one reason why I will never bank with Chase, Wells F., BofA, etc.
I like credit unions and community banks. I can talk to a human w/on all those steps. (Color of shirt is probably a new one they will add soon:)
"What color shirt were you wearing when you created this account?" 🤬

When at a public place (i.e. restaurants, gas stations, etc.) and encounter a messy restroom, I would blame the slobs that were in there before me - rather than the facility staff. The weird thing (to me) is that restaurant employees have said more than once that the women's restrooms are often much worse than the mens!
