The Northern Lights, So Pretty

Absolutely amazing, I have seen them in Scotland, years ago, but
here in London, there is too much light pollution.

I saw the report on the TV News tonight, they are also seeing
them in New Zealand, but they have different names down there.

Sister's mother-in-law took awesome photos when she was in Alaska. She did it on the sly, as they were asked not to take photos.

The only reason I can think of, is, they were selling postcards of the aurora borealis.
I thought it a very odd 'request'. As you say, the sky belongs to everyone.

I didn't see them from here last night, but up north somebody got this shot over the Mackinac Bridge:

I saw them at 3am last night. Did not have a real clear view and maybe it was too late. They resembled lightning flashes.

They are really very powerful this year, below
in an image from the BBC, this was taken in the
center of England, normally they are only seen
in Northern Scotland.

I so wish I could see them live! I looked out my patio door a couple of times when they were supposed to be visible even though I knew that it was highly unlikely I would be able to see them. I live in a city with light and air pollution. My best bet is to watch the videos on YouTube about the northern lights. I showed one to my son months ago and he was amazed. The video you posted in awesome Rose!

There was a discussion on the radio about them today,
they said that if you can't see them, on a faint tinge on
the sky, if you look at that tinge by using your phone
camera, you will get a better sight of them that you will
using only your own eyes, I didn't know this and now we
have cloud cover.

I don't know how long they are expected to last this time,
but they used to last a couple of weeks in Scotland when
I was in my teens.

Our granddaughter took some amazing pictures from their backyard with her smartphone. She shared them with all of us on our family chat. Really beautiful. Our daughter took some great photos last year from Iceland, but I would think they are much more common there.

We were lucky enough to see the beautiful Northern Lights dancing across the sky when we were tent camping in remote areas of both Alaska and Canada. A sight to behold.

What's up with that? I can't think of any reason for no photos allowed.

My grandson took some pics with his new telescope. Despite lots of electric light pollution in this area, he got a few decent ones. He's pretty happy with them.
