He's not a TV host. He's a comedian who first had great success in standup, then on a sitcom loosely based on his life that was called, "Seinfeld"

I never heard about Connery, and from comments on this thread I'm not the only American for whom his acknowledged wife beating comes as a surprise.

I thought Barbara Walters was watched by millions ! Obviously not as popular as they proclaim ....

Oh I don't disagree, I thought she was pretty terrible, the very few shows I saw of hers, because they weren't bought by our networks, so we never saw them.. the only time I saw them was online....

However as I said it was well known in the industry, due to the various interviews he gave admitting he hit women, it was written in much of the media at the time.. and now we learn it's also in his ex wife's book... not a secret for most people.. especially someone who proclaims Connery to be hi Hero...
 
Believe it or not, I would put Ronald Reagan in the top 10 of notoriety people as being a man's man. I am referring back before he came into the political circle. Another impressive male would be Donnie Wahlberg. A very smooth low volume talker that can hold his own in any conversation and yet shows little to no fear against the "Hollywood Seven."

Have her take a look at another James Bond - Pierce Brosnan. I understand that when his wife of over a decade had cancer he stayed with her until the end. She had two children when they married, and when their birth father died, Brosnan adopted the children.

No doubt there are blemishes on Mr. Brosnan’s record. Hopefully, they are small.

My kids ran into Brosnan when he was walking past them on the beach at Malibu. Said he was an arrogant jerk who made derisive remarks about teenagers on "his beach." (CA beaches belong to the public.) They also ran into Jennifer Aniston there one time - said she smiled and waved as she jogged past.

So maybe not Brosnan.

My wife is (was, sorry) the head of the U.S. History Department at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She taught (yeah, right) there for 31 years, but took a break or as they call it, a sabbatical now and and then. I remember back when 007 was a big deal here in the U.S. and the University had Sean Connery on stage for some reason, not sure what it was all about because it was a while ago, and he was at the University to address the students.

My wife made darn sure she made it to the auditorium and also to get his autograph and a hug. Why do women think that's a big deal? I used to have a crush on Rachel Welch and she flew on one of my flights, but I never asked for her autograph or even a hug. I did, however, make sure I had the opportunity to welcome her aboard.

I am no star gazer and I see no reason to treat them any different than any other passenger.

Autographs and selfie photos with celebrities never made any sense to me. It's not like you're going out to lunch with them and becoming BFFs. (And even if you were - so what?)

That's the way I feel about it also. When I flew, we used to allow children to sit in the cockpit and have mommy or daddy take their picture. That's seldom done anymore. Every now and then, someone would ask me if they could take a picture of me with them because it was a special trip or their first flight or whatever else they could dream up.
