With the Heat, I Don't Even Want to Use the Stovetop Much.

I don't use the oven in the summer. But I think I'm rarely going to use the stove top either. I boiled some potatoes I had bought last week but I think I'm through with anything that takes that long for a few months.

If it's not out of the fridge or heated in the microwave, I don't think I'm going to eat it.

I use a Max Burton 6200 induction countertop cooker. It doesn't get hot,
and only heats the bottom of the pan, which needs to be induction compatible.

An interesting thing about boiling, is that cooking just below boiling temperature cooks
as fast as at full boil, because even at full boil the temperature is no higher then 212 degrees.

Thus oats I bring "almost" to a boil, then turn off the cooker because that's hot enough.
When cooking rice I bring it "almost" to a boil, then set the timer for 25' on the lowest setting.
The pressure cooker gets much hotter of course, so I use that in the garage or else outside on the patio.

Even when hubby was here, I didn't use the oven. I definitely don't use it now. I use my air fryer a lot more. No desire to use the outdoor grill so I'm going to sell it. It's new.

I cook A LOT of Birdseye frozen skillet meals (there are several varieties) in the microwave rather than in a skillet. I use a 3qt stoneware casserole dish with a lid. I "doctor" the meals up with olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce and an array of seasonings. 12:45 - 13:45 on high in the microwave. Each meal only costs $4.97 from Walmart frozen section. I eat one whole skillet meal from the casserole dish in a sitting. Inexpensive meal with veggies and protein, no heat (to speak of) and easy one dish and one utensil clean up. Been doing it for years. So far so good.

Seasonings I sprinkle on top of most of the skillet meals:
Crushed red pepper
Chili powder
Paprika
Cayenne Pepper
Ground cumin
Ground Oregano leaves
Garlic powder
Onion powder of minced onion
Ground Thyme

EDIT: I never add salt 'n pepper from the shakers. Those sauces and seasonings listed, do the trick.

Sounds good. I "doctor" a lot of my meals. Always have :)

Yes. Rates are going up so much with Pacific Gas and Electric. They have a lot of payouts for people they killed and communities they burned down. I'm not just saying that. They are officially blamed for fires. So rates go up and up. I try to use less and less.
I didn’t realize rates were going up so much. They definitely are responsible for the Paradise fire. The insurance rates in Placerville have skyrocketed because in the event of a fire it would be very difficult for people to get out fast enough.

That's actually a good idea I hadn't thought of. I do eat plant based but Trader Joe's had a good one if they still make it and I could cook some of the riced cauliflower in the microwave.

Can't use my microwave & LR a/c at same time or fusebox go whoosh! So, very careful not to. Lucky microwaving is fast.

that happens in Spain.. we can only have a few things running at the same time or the fuse blow, it's very irritating.. ... Here in the Uk we could almost have the national grid on in our homes, without any problems with fuses blowing.

Our's too. It will blow the fuse when we have several different things plugged into that circuit. We quit using the others so we have the microwave to use. Just lately I have started using a single small microwave plate to "fry" sausage to make like a egg-mc-muffin. It does brown the sausage. Then the buns a little...melt the cheese and then use the plate again to scrabble the egg and cook it flat...put the burger on top, and wa-la.

I haven't used my stove or oven in decades. It has become a place to store some of my bakeware and large utensils. I use the NuWave system. I have a NuWave oven and two NuWave cooktops. Still my little kitchenette, that has no windows, gets hot. I'm glad I had the presence of mind to have a ceiling fan installed when I had the kitchen remodeled a couple of decades ago. With the AC going in the living room, having the ceiling fan on does help a little. I don't spend a lot of time cooking anyway.

The strawberries I bought for a shortcake will have to be used in something else. It’s too hot to turn on the oven. They’re not very flavourful strawberries so that cake would have been a great way to serve them.

Another idea, "mug cakes" you can do in the microwave. Recipes online.
