@StarSong Nope. He hates his job and is just marking time until he can retire for the pension. It'll be 30 years soon.
@Jules I'd thought of that, too. It would mean putting up with the same old same old, just for two days instead of five!
I have
no earthly idea what I'm gonna do with myself, just know that I'm done with corporate cr@p even if it's a small corporation. Silly rules, requirements...
For instance, there's a notice posted by the time clock proclaiming that no one is allowed to use their own personal "device" while clocked in and indeed, not even allowed to have it on their person. No exceptions because if it's noticed that that's being done, it will mean disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
There are big posters everywhere telling us to scan the QR code at the bottom that shows us how to clock in on personal "device," how to swap shifts, how to apply for PTO, etc. But we're not allowed to have a personal "device" on our person...um...scan the QR codes using what? LOL
There's a big, big freezer at the back of the store that we have to use all day every day. It has a foolproof gizmo that keeps from locking a person in. One day the foolproof gizmo didn't work. The person in the freezer had her phone. Called her husband, who called the store manager, who unlocked the freezer door. If she hadn't had her phone, she'd have died, but she was worried that she'd be fired.
There are employees who kill time by watching videos, playing games, logging into forums or facebook. Every day. So far they're all still employed.
We must all wear corporate shirts, black or khaki slacks or dark denim jeans. Black or khaki jeans not allowed, only dark denim. Black or khaki reserved for slacks. If we don't adhere to the dress code, notice says we'll be sent home. People ignore it on a daily basis. AFAIK, no one has been sent home. (Sir wears faded black sweat pants.)
There are "tests" we have to take every day on a handheld computer. If we don't take them, "management will have to get involved." Most days I take them...multiple choice. I always just click on the first answer offered. We're asked if we have low, medium or high confidence in our answer. I always click on low. All that's required is that we take the required test.
Wait. I do that every day that the handheld computer works, provided that it's available. Each department is assigned one. Often ours isn't in the docking station where it's supposed to be kept. Often it doesn't work because the server is down or whatever other excuse there is.
BUT ALL THIS STUFF IS REQUIRED OR "MANAGEMENT WILL HAVE TO GET INVOLVED."
So, no to two days a week.
ETA: Those tests we have to take every day are common sense tests. How to lift things, food safety, cleaning up spills, that kind of stuff. Hard to believe there are people who wouldn't know the answers to such basic things. Reckon they wonder why I keep flunking? It's not required to pass, just to take them.
