Gay Pride Month... Part 2

Clearly not. You are certainly not being silenced. You are also not posting anything about the topic but simply about how you can post.
The thread isn't about you.
I never said it was , never thought it was. And I certainly did post remarks about the topic, and because what I said was not liked by some, that is when the insults, snide remarks etc. started .

Did you? You said you opposed it - every other post you made was about posting or complaints about other posters , not about the topic.

I haven't seen a huge amount of coverage about Pride Month here - perhaps I haven't been watching enough TV.
Not a lot in newspapers though.

I did find this about Pride Month in Australia: " This year, the parade is centred around the 2024 Festival theme Our Future… Building upon a 45-year history of powerful protest and celebration of LGBTQIA+ lives, the Parade remains a beacon of hope, a display of creativity and a dazzling show of pride."

We really don't know how Jesus would react. I'm going to guess Jesus would favor Pride. I base that on the stories of Jesus, an unmarried single man keeping 12 men as close friends.
.. and I'm gonna guess that Christ didn't like filthy little boogering athiests because He said so.

In those days, being an atheist was being a believer in gods other than the god of Abraham. I doubt anyone in those times would admit to believing in no gods at all.

Thank you, Pepper, but I was just replying to his hateful words with more of the same, maybe show him what it feels like.
Don't waste your very precious time. He deliberately makes his presence known for no good reason whatsoever, except to be heard as the one lone voice crying in the wilderness. I just laugh. He happens to be a nice guy on other levels, IMO. Really. :ROFLMAO:

So when others make derogatory remarks about myself, I should just ignore them ? If those posters would have stuck to the topic themselves, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Thank you Pepper. It's no mystery that when the bible is used to promote God/ Jesus as being benevolent & caring. Citing verses in the bible that are contrary to that seems to me to try striking a balance. Or pointing out what the bible shows as fact.

Did you hear him or is that something you read?
Please show where Jesus was different than being a single man that traveled with 12 male companions.

Nothing hatful about what I posted, can't say the same for your post.

When I was a teen I fell into the "anti gay" mob mentality that most boys at that age did at the time. We called any boy who didn't seem to fit in different horrible slurs with connotations that they were gay (whether they were or not). Of course the mob mentality was propelled from outside factors including the PE teachers who would do the same thing with kids who did not appear to fit in to what was considered to be "manly". TV shows at the time helped propel that mentality. There were many outside factors that helped propel that mentality. I am not proud of the behavior but it is true that I was that way.

Once I started college I started to meet students who were gay and I got to know them, the stereotypes about gay people that I had as a teen started to disappear. And when I entered the workplace I did start meeting even more people of both genders who were gay and it eventually I got to the point where the sexual identity of a person didn't matter to me anymore to me. I came to the conclusion that those who were gay deserved all the joy, happiness, heartaches and sadness that heterosexual people do. And they deserved all the opportunities that those who are not gay do.

I can only speak for myself but the month does not bother me at all. Like I said, I am not proud of the way I behaved when I was a teen. I know that there are some who are gay and around my age who had to put up with a lot of verbal abuse when they were teens and perhaps years after that. And that abuse was a day to day thing, not just for one month.

I'm not sure I understand the question - or why you quoted me to ask it.

I quoted the line the caused me to write this.

Can you tell me where acceptance of gays is covered in the Bible? Devote Christians believe the good book, no? So I'm struggling to see where acceptance comes from.

I didn't say there was - I simply answered the question about why Christians still use the OT as well as the NT and stated that Christians don't have one stance.

I think there are plenty of references to Jesus accepting all people and I think many of the anti gay quotes are cherry picked and out of context.

And obviously many parts of the bible contradict each other and many parts are not taken literally - except when it suits people.
So 'Christians belive the good book' doesn't mean they all interpret all of it the same or have exactly same views on this or anything else.

Probably best to let this thread continue with out interrupting with negative wording like Christ didn't like filthy little boogering athiests.

More enjoyable reading posts like MarkinPhxpost #66

Not much different to Winston Churchill.
