Is it called synchronicity or coincidence?

You know those times when you shake your head and say, "How did that happen"?
You are singing a song then it comes on the radio, you are looking a group photograph and someone in the picture knocks on your door, you are doing a crossword puzzle and watching a movie at the same time - the answer to a clue shows up in the movie at the exact time.
Just now I was driving on the Kwinana Freeway in Perth listening to the radio.
The announcer was talking about The Old Mill in South Perth and how it was going to be open to the public today. As I look sideways, I am passing the Old Mill in South Perth.
Do you experience theses happenings?

I have had this happen, freaks me out. I can be thinking of something my husband and I used to do together and it will come up on the TV or the internet. Some people would think it was not strange but if you are flipping thru channels and you come across a favorite movie at just the right time, the right scene, how can I deny that. For me that is a communication from him, he brought me right there at that time, to see that scene, It is not a fluke, if it was somewhere else in the movie that would not strike a nerve, it has to be at the right scene, the right line, at the right time. No, I am not crazy, this has happened on many occasions.

I spent 2 days trying to get a song out of my head...an ear worm type of thing. I finally got rid of it. The next time I got in the car I turned on the radio and guess what song was playing??? Aarrgghh!!!

Yes, now and then. Not often, but it's fun when it does happen.

Yes, I've experienced that sort of thing.

I was reading something Carl Jung wrote about synchronicity. He may have coined the term, or its German equivalent... or possibly simply became a popularizer of it, especially in psychology circles. Anyhow, he said he was doing analytical & counseling work (in Zurich) and had a client in his counseling room for a session, and she recounted a recent dream when a prominent feature was a scarab. That beetle didn't exist in Zurich.

As she was relating the dream, Jung happened to glance at the window just near to where he was sitting, and saw a quite similar looking beetle of a species that did exist in Zurich. Jung regarded this kind of event as not simple coincidence but special enough that he applied the term synchronicity to it.

Yeah, sometimes. Most often though it's bad stuff piling on top of other bad stuff. Not happy coincidences.

There are other crass and dirty names for when the bad stuff collides with more bad stuff.

Synchronicity: A meaningful coincidence of two or more events where something other than the probability of chance is involved.
Carl Jung

When I was about six or seven years old I lived in an apartment building which had an inside staircase to get into or outside the building through a door at the bottom of the staircase which was always open in the daytime.

One day I started walking down that staircase from almost the top, lost my balance and fell all the way down to the bottom. When I landed on the bottom step I was badly shaken up although seemingly physically okay (youth).
I sat there for a few minutes when a dog I've never seen before walked through the open door and came up to me. I was so happy to see him and gave him a big hug and didn't let go for a while until I felt better emotionally. At that point the dog left through the open door. I never saw that dog before and never again afterwards. I will never ever forget that incident. I think of him as a angel with fur. I've also read that "Coincidences are God's way of staying anonymous." I guess the dog was God's helper. I hope that pooch had a great life. He'll always be in my memory.

Beautiful occurrence for you. We never forget those moments. They are etched into our brains and can be recalled when prompted. :)
