Hi,
After letting the screw soak up a bit of oil, get the proper size screwdriver and place in the X (assume its Phillips but it might be Torx). When the screwdriver is firmly seated, lightly hit the end of the driver with a small hammer several times. This can often free up whatever is holding it in there.
If that doesn't work, I would use a power driver with the proper bit in it.
