Living in a church

My daughter is hoping to buy her own home and looking around, she came upon advertisements for churches that were no longer used for worship.
Although they are generally cheap, they would not generally be easy to convert to a house or apartments. There is also the problem that many have a graveyard which is owned and maintained by the local council, so there is no land with the church itself. At least the 'neighbours' wouldn't be a problem.

Here's an example, on the market for offers over 72k.

A better bet would be the manse which tends to be sold separately and is quite often a substantial house.

Here in the mid-west, Missouri, we have converted churches that are residential houses now. I think the state owns the property, and offers it to a bidder. We have such property and hope that when it reverts to the state that it is sold to like minded people who used the church for close to 50 years. But we think our State in it's current form will sell to make a profit. There is no telling what that might be, as the "American" consummer cultur is swiflty gobeling properties near by us. Only a bout 2 miles from us the OK'd a new store for

MIDWAY ARMS, INC - Store in ROCHEPORT

We see smaller/older churches that are converted into "homes", mainly in the country. It was once our dream, back in the early 70's.
Where we used to live, there was a church converted into a house that was absolutely gorgeous. It had huge stained glass windows and had land with it and no cemetery. The people who owned it took very good care of it.

There's a church converted into a home a couple of miles from me, even has a cemetery next to it. Years ago there was no mistaking it was a church but the owners did a lot of renovations so it's lost some of the church look.

I love the look of the one Captain Lightning posted, I would never change the outer appearance.
