Are you annoyed by neighbors setting off fireworks?

I have a neighbor, who is a fireworks nut. Yeah, he does put on a nice show on the 4th of July. ( He must spend a fortune on fireworks.) But last night @ 11:30 PM, he celebrated the 30th of June. He also celebrates Xmas, New Years, Easter, Palm Sunday, Ground Hog Day, etc., and most Saturdays. He doesn't bother me, but people with pets may have issues with him.
Around here, setting off fireworks is a normal thing.
How do you feel about people setting of 'firework show' class fireworks?

I personally don't mind it... there's someone on the next street already setting them off every night for the 4th. But I know that cats and dogs mind it... but even worse in my area is the fact that there are a number of Vietnam, Korea, and Gulf vets on my street that *do* mind. I think there should be more public service announcements concerning what those fireworks can do to veterans with PTSD. But I suppose it would probably be ignored.

It’s illegal here without a permit and your average person can’t get one. Good. It’s too dry. Leading up to Canada Day there’re always a few that I can hear. My dogs would be upset.

My DD was telling me about the drone display she saw in Texas. It was incredible. Some places are starting to adopt this display.

In Vancouver a private yacht set off fireworks illegally. Set an old railway bridge on fire and caused a great deal of environmental damage.

When I lived in the apartments in my old neighborhood, people started popping off fireworks in mid-June, immediately after they went on sale. Some of 'em were so loud they triggered car alarms. The car alarms were way more annoying than the firecrackers.

In my new neighborhood, there's no fireworks until the 4th. And everyone's welcome to step outside and watch, and visit while we watch, and neighbors come and offer cans of beer and soda. It's basically a low-key block party.

Last year, our second 4th in this neighborhood, I made sugar cookies with red, white and blue sprinkles on them and passed them around to the kids. I'm gonna do that this year, too.

I read about that in the news not too long ago. Sad about that bridge

Only so called safe and sane fireworks are legal here. That includes fountains and piccolo Petes. I don't mind them. The kids are having fun. But, a lot of people ignore the law and shoot major skyrockets and bombs. These are irritating, not only the loud bangs, but the next morning there are bits and pieces all over my yard. The police have given up on enforcing the law. And, of course they start way before the 4th and even a little after.

Same here. Aerial fireworks are not allowed but the ones you mentioned are allowed during this time. The problem is people ignore the law and do shoot off aerial fireworks (stupid considering the location). People can call the police as much as they like but unless an officer actually witnesses someone shooting off the aerial fireworks they can't do anything about it.

Same here. I never had a problem with the smaller items being set off near our house; my ex and kids and I would set off smaller items, too. But we had a neighbor a few years ago setting off commercial-grade fireworks, and they were SO loud. Really not appropriate for a suburban neighborhood with trees so close together. But as you and @MarkinPhx pointed out, enforcement by police is nearly impossible.

I don't mind if a neighbor spends a half hour shooting off fireworks. There's already been some parties with fireworks but they were reasonable, over by 10 or so. What I don't like are the random fireworks, someone starts at 5 ocassionally blasting something off, and it carries on until the AM hours, that I can do without.

Yet it's not every day or every week, so for the few times a year it happens I live with it.

Edit...I should add that living rual my neighbors are thousands of feet away, so the noise terrible.

What's a Piccolo Pete?

At the house where I grew up, there was a kid living across the street that was into pyrotechnics and even built his own fireworks. One time he set something off and it flew up and landed on our roof (that house had a flat roof). I remember my dad getting very angry (something he hardly ever did) and confronted the kid's father. I think he was worried about a fire starting. After that I don't remember the kid lighting any fireworks - at least at his house.
