I am done buying clothes.

to buy most modern looking clothes for an older person then the prices are significantly higher... which is ridiculous...

Modern? What is this modern that you mention?

Ruby & The 2023 MG NFR 004.JPG

yep and they were super modern in the 1940's... and now in the 2020's beautifully made ... different entirely to the stuff that's in the affordable high street shops for older folks...
That sounds like a compliment, especially the "beautifully made." Well guessed, you are right, the lady made her entire outfit as well as my shirt and trousers. Thank you Holly.

My favourite, vintage/modern is this dress. My wife came across an old photo of her mother wearing something similar. The picture was an old sepia black and white photograph but her mother was able to remember the dress, between them and the old photo, this is what my lady reproduced:

My shirt and trousers she made from an original Vogue pattern.
You are your wife are different @horseless carriage This is vintage era class.
Thank you Remy, kind of you to say so, much appreciated.

Both outfits are stunning as are all the outfits you've shown us .....I wish I had a just on little armful of Mrs HC's talent...

It's just my take Holly, but I'm guessing that she's good because she enjoys dressmaking as a past-time. Had she worked for one of the big fashion houses, with all the pressure and demands that entailed, it would have taken all the pleasure that she derives from her hobby.

yes..there's that ...but like here.. those stores or department that sell clothes predominately aimed at older women... they're still stuck somewhere in the 70's. Floral tops.. polyester trousers ( pants)... polyester blouses .. horrible... it's like they've forgotten that there's people like us.. who are young in thought and deed despite being 60's and 70's and even 80's..they're produccing clothes for people..like this...

I wouldn't wear the clothes in the top photo but, I think, both the ladies look very sweet and, perhaps that was the point back in the day, women were expected to become more homely as they got older.

The second lady is nowhere near the same age as the other two ladies though, but that aside, I like her style and I wear similar but, not the big jewellery or the scarf around the waist. I would buy those embroidered jeans if I saw them! Obviously I am just not done with buying clothes :)

yes I'm not saying the older women don't look sweet, I'm saying their clothes are what are still being sold today for ladies who are over 60 as de rigueur and it's not what the majority of seniors want...

That said, the woman in the bottom picture is wearing the clothes I wear..and I'm 70 next birthday... unless I was 100 years old.. or so infirm I couldn't dress myself I wouldn't be seen dead in those clothes in the first picture, and I want to know why designers think it's normal to still be creating clothes that my granny wore 60 years ago...

The printed top on the younger woman is gorgeous. I tend to wear a lot of brightly colored, v-neck, short sleeve polos over summer.

The US has several chain stores that sell clothes like the bottom pics ...Chicos, Coldwater Creek, Soft Surroundings. Looks as though they should expand to the UK.

Chicos and Coldwater Creek are two of my favorite stores. They are expensive but I wait for sales and their clothes last for a long time.

Those are my some of my favourites also. I’ve been lucky enough to find a few items in one thrift store. They don’t have a store or ship to Canada. These big stores sometime sell/donate to charities.

I find some good deals on Poshmark. Like the used clothing prices and the fact that buying second hand is environmentally friendly.

The stores sell this.........but the ladies want this.

This is what a 78 year man can buy to wear.

This 78 year old is not going quietly!

What is it with some Walmart shoppers?! I don't see how the lady in the second pic was allowed to shop. I wonder if she got arrested for indecent exposure. 🤔
Look at the size of the person in the trolley in the 2nd picture. Shocking that people go out dressed that Way.

don't be sizest, we none of know what problems has been caused to make a person that size ....critiquing their clothing or they're dirty manners is one thing...sizest?..naaa....
I just meant the child was very big to be in a trolley, however you are right, I didn’t think she might not be able to walk, or could be otherwise handicapped

Was in Stop & Shop. Saw a man with a dog. Asked management "Do you now allow dogs?" and the answer was "He threatened me. I had to make a decision. Cops would take too long to get here."

Store management is afraid of people like that, and store security is no security at all.
you will not find this in any other store in the world....

Te UK is bad but nowhere near as bad as those walmart customers..... and I'm just trying to think what the reaction would be in Spain, France of Germany if anyone walked into a store like that .. they would have them out the door quick smart...
