take it as you wish... but these 5 foods according to Julia Lundstrom, noted author and neuroscience researcher.
In order of danger to our memories

1) Diet soda
2) Cereal
3) Whole wheat bread
4) Microwaved popcorn
5) Canned tuna in oil

None of the above ⬆️...
Thanks anyway..HD
Good Jace... ...yes same with me. I do drink diet coke, but it takes me a month or more to finish a litre bottle.. so not a concern..I have always eaten Tuna in spring water rather than oil. I've never been a fan of popcorn ..and I've stopped buying whole-wheat bread... a long time ago..

However all these things in the list are very common in many peoples homes and their diet... and people might not expect these foods to be a cause of their memory loss..

HD...Thank you for sharing this info. The only popcorn I eat every now and then is Crunch N Munch. I stopped eating canned tuna years ago. I now eat pouch tuna. I found butter bread that I like and don't buy whole wheat bread often. I found out it's not good for the kidneys. I've also cut back on my Cheerio eating.

I've come to the conclusion that everything we ingest is bad for us in some way. And it keeps changing! Butter was bad for us, now it's good for us. Coffee was bad for us, now it's good for us. Don't eat too many eggs (cholesterol)...well now it's okay to eat as many as you want. They say eat your fruits and veges, 5 servings a day if you want to be healthy. But often that "healthy" advice neglects to say if many of them are not organic, you'll be consuming up to 67 pesticides in each serving!

Both my son and my nutritionist told me that vegetable oils are bad for us. There are still differing opinions about a glass of wine a day (I don't need to worry about that one). I knew sodas are bad but then I read sparkling water and seltzer is too. To top it off...bottled water and tap water are bad for us
because of the micro-plastics in them! What are we supposed to do?!

They are all processed, not good. Whole grains are rich in fibre, B vitamins and other nutrients and can reduce inflammation in the brain, supporting memory and warding off dementia. Whole grains such as quinoa, barley, brown rice and oats are great choices and can be healthier alternatives to more processed grains, such as white flour.
As an alternative these five foods can fight dementia.

see , in your list HC..there are 2 items which is on the lists to cause memory loss.. and that's wholewheat.. and Tuna ( if it's canned in Oil):(

Probably seed oils rather than olive oil, coconut oil, etc. But that's just today's "determination."
What are we supposed to do?!
A lot of this is really fad and fashion and marketing, but how can we know which? Also partial information doesn't help (popcorn is fine, it's the crap in the bag with it in microwave popcorn that's under suspicion). Then there is superstition ("Microwave ovens are the Devil and/or unnatural").

What we do is exercise moderation and caution.

FYI she stops telling you what she's going to talk about and actually starts talking about it at 1:9.

I don't eat the other things but I eat lots of whole wheat bread.

Gulp.... I'm amazed I've got any memory left at all.... now what have I done with my glasses.... by the way, Ruby, I like your thread..... was it you that I've borrowed those 15 lawnmowers off? 😊

Yes Holly, you are right. I too noticed that and thought it better to post the link rather than quote the contradiction. The nutritionists can argue it all they like, I'm all for being peaceful. Besides, alcohol is guilty of causing dementia and memory loss, but the beer, wine and spirits lobby are powerful enough to pay off nutritional study "experts."

Even-though Julia Lundstrom clearly has commercial interests(book, workshops, supplements) the video does point out that some foods that many consider harmless, really have a dark side. Diet soda deserved to be the #1 on the list, and "breakfast cereal", which is hard to find one that isn't loaded with sugar, a known contributor to inflammation(think: arthritis, cancer, diabetes etc). I only eat canned tuna once every...oh, 15 years or so, but when I do I choose "packed in spring water" because I don't like the oily mess.

I don't remember the part about Whole wheat bread, Googling isn't raising any 'red flags', but I'd have to say if you wanted to reduce carbs in your diet cutting down on / or cutting out bread would be first.

Sugar and the Brain

Although the brain needs glucose, too much of this energy source can be a bad thing. A 2012 study in animals by researchers at the University of California at Los Angeles indicated a positive relationship between the consumption of fructose, another form of sugar, and the aging of cells, while a 2009 study, also using an animal model, conducted by a team of scientists at the University of Montreal and Boston College, linked excess glucose consumption to memory and cognitive deficiencies.

I'm worried now. In hot summer weather, I like a bowl of raisin bran cereal for breakfast. The other items I do not eat but raisin bran, I do.

'Take it as you wish ......'. Fine I'll take it , and a lot of other advice posted on social media, with a large 'pinch of salt'. I suppose that's bad for me too.

I agree.

I take researched studies more seriously. Youtube and social media recomendations - not so much.

This is the problem - trying to find trustworthy sources of information. There are ads. on TV here for a 'health drink' that looks like green pond slime and supposed to improve your physical and mental functions. Reading reviews in lifestyle magazines would suggest that this is the greatest thing since sliced bread, while more objective reviews say that it tastes terrible, is expensive and is a poor substitute for a balanced diet.
