How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

Well the rain stayed off long enough for me to get the car oiled and watered... the sun is actually out and it feels warm in the sun while I was out there working under the bonnet... but according to the forecast it's going to rain again in 30 minutes..

I just looked at the forecast for my destination, and prior to today it said it would rain 2 out of the 5 days .. now it's saying only one day will be dry but it will be cloudy and the rest of the time it will rain.....so there goes my chance of getting sunny beach pictures.. but I'll try ... and just my luck the following week is going to be glorious sun. if it wasn't for having to be back to deal with the lawyers.. i would book the next week and stay down there, but I can't , I have to be back...

@hollydolly If there are real clouds and not just an overcast sky you can still get some dynamite pictures. Anyway, I hope the weathernerds there are no more accurate than they are here and your vacation weather turns out to be sunny and pleasant.

It finally feels like the day it's supposed to be...Sunday. Now I can start to get back to what real day it is. Gosh, even what real time of day!
 
Off to feed DSs cat in a few. Other plans include making meatballs, a pot of tomato sauce, cutting up my half-watermelon and start a batch of chicken legs in the crock pot for meat and broth for my dog. I want to make lasagne tomorrow.

Looking at 91 humid degrees for the high. I feel sorry for my friends in CA with their triple digit temps and fires.

Hard to believe the scorching temps in the West and Southwest ! .... 124 degrees in Vegas and Palm Springs - that is unreal.
.... and those dealing with wildfires on top of that.
Prayers to you all out there.
 
Yesterday we saw an open house (they have them quite often) at a seniors’ residence so we decided to drop in to see what they’re like. We know something like this has to be in our future, because of DH’s health. I shudder at this style of living. It was a lovely place, but… Yikes, they’re expensive. We try to Plan Ahead.

Got lots of grocery store shopping in yesterday. That made me happy. I love it.

GG...I will take photos everywhere... but not in rain.... I won't even go near the beach in rain......

Maybe you'll have a nice patio where you can relax, read, and listen to the rain. 🙂
 
I honestly cannot tell you how heavy this rain is..it's absolutely teeming down. the wind is causing it to go sideways, the thunder & lightening is very loud..I have not seen a storm like this since the Spanish Gota Fria's which they have about every 7 years... ..it's really bad . and in minutes it's flooded in places....the thunder is very loud and sounds directly overhead....... and I'm expecting my power to go out any moment...

Can you postpone your vacation for a few weeks. Even if the lodging is full for a couple of weeks from now, you’re under no time constraint because of kids being on school vacation.

No that's the whole point Jules...the kids break up on school holidays at the end of July, and don't return until around mid September... I'm trying to avoid kids... this is my last chance to go where there will be fewer kids...

...that means I can't leave here at 5am as I had planned to do to avoid the awful congestion on the motorway,, because I;d have to kick my heels at the destination for about 8 hours....oooh this is sooo annoying.... apart from anything else I had plans for tomorrow afternoon down there... good lord by the time I check in at 5pm, and get everything organised it'll be evening...so annoyed.. what a waste of a day and unduly stressful traffic...:cautious:

Will your accomodation place not be able to store your luggage until check-in time if you arrive early? It's common practise in North & South America that accomodation places do this for their guests who arrive early. Whenever I travel be air, I'm almost always arriving hours before check in time because it's pretty much impossible to arrange flight arrival times to match hotel check-in times.

I store my stuff at the hotel & have a small carry bag with anything I might need so I can change in one of the hotel's restrooms then head out to explore the local area. At least that way you coukd still make a day of it at your destination and avoid the heavy traffic.

we have been fed that scandal every few years for as long as I can remember. It pops on tv or in the media with monotonous regularity.. but of course I was a tiny tot when it all happened so I don't remember it happening...
 
After putting it off for a year and 1 month, I finally tackled the heart-and-back-breaking task of turning Paxton's bedroom into a regular ol' guest room.

I gave his remote-control monster truck and kid-friendly tool set to a neighbor kid. I'm going to take everything else to EcoThrift.

I'm keeping his Treasure Jar, his bottle cap collection, and this little box I made him. The "Wish Box" has a little cherub on the lid. You lean the cherub back to crack the lid open juuust enough to whisper a wish into the box, and then snap it shut...otherwise, your wish might escape, and it won't come true.

Time to sit in my recliner til the heart and back aches pass.
