How Important is the ARTS in your life?

The Art of Music making has been my favorite past time in the ARTS...

SINGING has been hard for me to grasp, but I never quit or gave up since 2014,
10 years gone and I can carry a tune finally!
some things take time.
I was told a Saxophonist spends a good 10 years in the making too!

PS...How I made my living was not musical performances, even though I did preform
across state lines. My living was made by designing over the last 25 years I re-designed an old type of
microphone under the strings of solid wood electric guitars know as _the Guitar Pickup_ mine were done
to actually recreate that authentic 50's sound as it was not being offered at all for resale, sure there were Items that made claim's
but none of them past muster with myself or my Professional clients, except the ones,
I make amd the still do and they still are thee one an only's 19 years later.
those made by FENDER GUITARS during 1950 thru 1964 all HAND MADE and 8000 turns of hand guided wire...etc.

Music is a major part of my life... mainly listening now... My daughter is an accomplished Bass guitarist and plays drums as well as acoustic guitar...
I used to play Cello.... now I'm learning Piano Keyboard... and next week I'll be starting to learn the Ukelele...

I’ve played drums since I was ten years old. Facing orthodonture, my dentist ruled out learning any kind of wind instrument for me, so it was either piano, drums, or a stringed instrument. Guess what a ten-year-old boy is gonna choose?

I’ve since played marching bands, concert bands, stage bands, and groups. My 1960’s vintage drum kit has followed me over the years, with upgrades. I still play an occasional gig, and although my arthritis hurts afterwards, it’s worth it, and I’m a natural swing cat!

Can't imagine life without music as my background. Always a song in my head (not always wanted!) and always the Sirius radio on. Broadway tunes compete in my mind along with rock. Gets crowded in my head with music musings.

Sometimes I still must blast the radio if Led Zeppelin on, etc. My neighbors think I'm in my second childhood, but I actually never left my first. 🎶🎵🎼🎹🥁🎸🎻🎺🎷

Paintings. Visual arts. Can't live without the drawing arts either. Admire talent no matter which path that takes.

We have a Very Talented Saxophonist on Board. Her name is @PeppermintPatty. She is skilled, talented and has posted some of her music. Maybe she will see this.
lol. Thanks Pepper.
I’m a musician. I sing, play saxophone and piano. My father was brilliant on piano. He played Chopin excellently so I was greatly influenced by him. I love to sing but haven’t been singing lately. I must start up again. It certainly helps my mood.

My favourite style of music are romantic ballads. They are usually slow and meaningful. I belong to an app called Smule. It’s a karaoke app where you can sing along with others. At Christmas time, I love to sing carols.

I also paint; usually watercolour.. Sometimes I use my painting as greeting cards and send them out to family. The are well received so I guess they like them. I think it makes people feel like they are special, which is the goal, cause they are.

Welcome to the forum.

I didn’t know you could have a name with spaces but you’ve just proved you can.

I cannot play instruments. I do like to listen to music. I like a lot of different genres and origins.
I grew up dancing. I like to dance whenever I can.
I also like arts like paintings, street art (murals, or street music), sculptures, films, and architecture. I can spend hours looking at art!

My art was music. It is not anymore. It has left the building. For 50 years playing guitar was an everyday joy. I made 100's of original songs that I have recorded and have many from the bands I played in. So I would say that my involvement with music was maybe the most important thing I did through this life. It is strange that I have no desire to play anymore. Like a few other very important things, it gave me a lot to live my life the way that was fit for me.

Since being retired I have an increased appreciation of music. I started playing piano by ear, at about the level of a child, but still something I never thought I could do. Once a month I participate in a gospel jam session at church and I have learned to play guitar chords in most major keys by ear, something my piano playing helped me do. The jam session is so helpful in that you can try new things and there is no pressure of messing up, or sit out as needed.

I mentioned that I might like to try the banjo so my kids all chipped in and bought me one for Father’s Day! But boy that banjo is challenging as I have always been a bit clumsy at any finger picking on my guitar. But I will practice daily - my piano venture showed me that I might not notice progress, but as time goes on, progress does occur.

I enjoy listening to music, have done a little campfire singing with my wife and I used to draw quite a bit. But now most of my creative juices go into making a garden. Love being in nature the way I love listening to music. Making a garden brings nature ready to hand. Some pics of nature in my garden.

But my wife is a fiber artist so I see a lot more museum and gallery shows than I would otherwise.
