Are you an "Influencer"?

Apparently, we now have "Influencers". I guess to be an "influencer", you have to go through years of vigorous studies, or you just call yourself an influencer. I'm not sure what an influencer does. Some list as their occupation, "Influencer".
So, are you an influencer? What do influencers do?

I have come across so called influencers whilst browsing random Youtube videos. As far as I can make out all you need is a
'presence', plenty of self confidence and have no reservations about trying to pass of cr@p as interesting and 'FOR YOU'.....🤣....each to their own.

Nup, I'm no influencer....lol

Mind no long ago there were they two guys, one white & one black who were pushing some canned drink called Prime and the young folks were going daft for it for a while. The mark ups on these drinks in some shops were outrageous yet people bought it. Basically it was coloured water.

I hope that I have influenced some of the pilots that I had trained and taught emergency skills to. I always tried my best to teach new pilots the most important parts of flying. I'm sorry to say this, but I have known some pilots to hold out on giving the new guys important training. I have asked a veteran pilot "why didn't you tell him or her this or that?" They will say, "I had to learn on my own, so let them do the same." That's being ignorant.

I had a pilot that I was training to land during strong headwinds, to ask the ATC to do a "Go Around." IOW, not to land, but go around and try it from the other end of the runway if you are facing a strong headwind. We call that doing a "TOGA." Just as you are about to set the airplane down on the runway, you push the accelerators forward to top speed and pull back on the control column allowing the pane to take off and go around. That's a TOGA.

So, if you were going to land on Runway 10L and decide to land from the other end, that becomes Runway 28R.

Back in the nineties people on reality shows were saying they wanted to become role models and I always wondered just how they were going to find audiences to watch them do that, and then, just in time, we got YouTube so they could film themselves doing their role modelling.

I like how they usually start out saying something like, "I'm so sorry, this is my first vlog this week, I've just been so busy.' Like we've just been sitting in front of the PC refreshing the page every few minutes for the last three days. Then they proceed to spend five minutes telling you what they're goin to talk about and then they show you the outfit they bought at Family Dollar and finally it's over.

This is what we get for raising all those kids to have high self-esteem by telling them every little thing they did was ah-maaayzing!

I feel like I am more of an influencee. I consider so many different views and angles of subjects that usually I can't make decisions easily. I feel like I am swimming in a large pool of many "influencers" vying to convince me of their view point. But, I don't, and usually just go on without being swayed this way or that. :)
