Wow. Abortion is an issue again.

A total abortion ban is being discussed for the U.S. with NO exemptions for rape or incest. I am so grateful that I was born way back when I was born because girls were allowed the freedom to choose whether they were ready to parent or not by the time I reached maturity. The difficulty women will face going forward is mind numbing. How do you feel about this? I understand some people believe their religion frowns upon abortion. That's fine. Your behavior and choices are yours but why must they be forced upon others? I think it's better when people are as free as possible in life. Also to consider, women outnumber men in the U.S. Is it wise to anger such a large segment of the population?

What do you think? :unsure:
 

It seems like it will make more women angry that they won't have choice. That should translate as votes. For me that seems counter productive no matter what party you like. Won't that hurt their chances of victory? :unsure:

Roe should have never been overturned after so many years. Women should have the privacy and freedom to make their own medical decisions when it comes to their own body. They want to do away with IVF also, soon after will be any type of birth control. We're going back to the bad ol'days when you risked your life by going to someone in an alley or cheap hotel. It's a shame we're going back to the 1920s or earlier. Government should keep their noses out of your doctor's office and out of your bedroom
 

Guys I thank you for your input but let's not make Matrix upset by making this thread political. I meant this just as a question for members here how they felt about abortion? Thanks so much.

What do I think ?

Well first, I have no religious affiliation or belief. But I do not believe in killing babies either. I believe women should be permitted to abort up to about six weeks, at which time the fetus ? / cellular mass ? starts to become a being taking form . After that it should not be permitted .... jmo

It seems to me that within that timeframe the woman in question should have ample time to make even that hard decision.

The biggest problem with unwanted babies , is purely the fact that they are unwanted ... by the mother who gives birth to them. So whom else could / would want them ? There are so many horror stories about foster children, I'm just not sure the system actually works for them.

You never met a seventeen year old girl who believed her boyfriend when he said, "If you love me you would." And when she discovers she's about to become a mother he leaves her flat.

Men are such male supremacists and every woman is a slut. They're not and we outnumber you.

Women and girls are raped and often by family members. They die during pregnancy and birth. As my mother used to say if men got pregnant there would be an abortion clinic on every corner just like bars!!

It’s an individual decision and Roe should have never been overturned. Some men like to control women and enslave them and what better way then to control their reproductive rights.

Most women don’t even know they are pregnant until 6 weeks or later. Many don’t have regular menstrual cycles so they would constantly be taking pregnancy tests. It’s not a baby but a clump of cells for months. Birth control fails and if you use it you have an expectation that it works. Some men are so ignorant of the facts of pregnancy and the dangers. Ugh!!!

If in that case, she is dumb enough to believe that , and suggest/takes no precautions then I have no sympathy for her. There are just so many / too many times when this is used purely as a trap for the male. And in there somewhere she sees it as a ticket to ill perceived life of leisure .

It takes two to make a baby. [yes i know you know that] ;) But, if I were the one who were to carry this child , go through the physical strains, morning sickness, actual birth, etc, & so-on . You can be damn sure I am going to protect myself, and not be so trusting of the other person involved. In the case of just sex, there are several ways to satisfy the male [yes I know you know that as well] ;) if none of those pleases him ...... time to just say no, and move on.
 
You can't honestly and fairly discuss abortion without videos and photos of the fetal development week by week, month by month. The baby is sucking it's thumb, it's heart is pumping, it's eyes and toes are moving, etc at 3 months. I don't think you want that, nor politics...so that leaves this whole abortion subject one-sided. Is that fair?

If someone doesn't want their baby, there are other options other than killing it. And that's how I feel.

And the same can be said of women, and what better way than through their pregnancy . I gottcha now, and you better do the right thing . Of course it's yours .... you don't believe me ?

It is , in some cases an age-old battle.
 
I think it isn't any of my business. It's up to the people involved and their medical providers. It's massive government over reach. In situations when it truly is the life of the mother is at stake, why is her life less valuable than that of the unborn potential child?

I have seen proof, video & stated, that , that is just not so. @ about the six week point, it becomes a pretty clearly defined human being.

Now we can go back & forth 6 weeks / 12 weeks , etc & so-on . But somewhere a line must be drawn, and IMO that line is six weeks.

I agree here , in large part. Trouble is in so many / too many cases the people involved have already displayed poor choices . Again in some cases it is hard to imagine them making good choices / proper choices after the fact.

As a mother of a 27 yr old daughter I'm stressing about this almost every day.

I was in High School before Roe vs Wade, and I remember the pictures of girls who died from illegal abortions. Luckily we were close enough to Kansas that my friend and my sister's friend could each go there to get a legal one.

The application of the laws in the states banning abortions make it really clear how anti-woman the laws are. Fetus already dead - too bad, still no healthcare allowed to remove it. Fetus already miscarried out of the woman's body -- too bad, still no healthcare allowed to clean out the uterus.

Embryo in a woman's body -- rights to life higher than the woman's.
Embryo in a petri dish -- logically same as if in a woman, but no, since no woman will suffer, those embryos don't count.

And contrast this fervent worship of fetal life to our culture's respect for actual peoples' lives. We don't even require people to donate organs when they die. We don't even require giving blood. These things could be applied to men, so, you know, peoples' lives don't matter if it would mean a man would lose control over his body.
