International Chess Day - July 20th

I enjoy playing Chess, but I can never find anyone to play with. I played in a tournament online and got hammered in about 8 moves, but I never played in anymore tournaments after that. I enjoy playing one on one.
 

I love chess. I was Captain of my High school chess club. Have not played in years though. In my opinion, the greatest player that ever lived was Robert (Bobby) James Fischer. Most people do not know each piece except the King has a numerical value for strength of movement, Pawn 1, Knight 3, Bishop 3 +, Rook 5, Queen 10. Shah - Mat.
 
We had a chess club in high school. I remember once going to another school and played against their club. If I remember correctly, I played in two games - stalemated one and lost the other. I know the basics, but lousy at strategy.

Same here as well. When I was a teenager, my sister taught me how to play, but it's been many years since I played, and now I have forgotten how to play Chess. 😕
 
@sch404 kicked my butt at Chess underneath the Hobbies Header.

He hasn't posted since March. I know he was having physical issues. I wish him the best and hope he is able to return to the forum. :)

Wow. There was a guy around here who was an avid chess player. He played with someone he met here. I have wondered if he still checks in. I will do some searching to see if I can get his name and PM him to see if he checks in occasionally if you would like that?

Really? Is it supposed to smell bad? I ordered it for my salad in a restaurant in South Carolina about 5 years ago and when they brought it to my table, it smelled bad. I asked the waitress about it and she didn’t know, so she took it back and asked me if I wanted a different dressing. I took thousand island.

When I first started playing chess back in high school and my opponent called Octopus Knight, I had no idea what that was. When she moved all the spaces, I had to ask “Is that legal?”
