No sane person wants that but what he did, you had to be there, it was terrifying and of course an accident definitely Could Have Occurred. I'm no baby, it takes a lot to scare me. I learned to drive in Manhattan.@Pepper C'mon! Do you think those AAR drivers are out to kill themselves or anybody else?
Pepper tbf..you say it takes a lot to scare you, but you're constantly on edge about everything... especially the Access rides...No sane person wants that but what he did, you had to be there, it was terrifying and of course an accident definitely Could Have Occurred. Went to bed last night knowing that the village to the north of us (not many kilometers or miles north) has been issued an evacuation order (due to wildfire). We've been assembling essential things to load into our little car and our pickup truck for evacuation, if the fire comes closer. In the event, the local authorities would issue an evacuation order for neighborhoods like ours.
At the same time, we prepare meals, pick the ripe berries, stay in touch with friends, and maintain normal life here as much as possible.
We welcome and appreciate any prayers, compassionate vibes, and the like — that people are willing to send this way, for our friends, neighbors, and our homesites.![]()
I recently read the riveting but terrifying "Fire Weather: A True Story from a Hotter World" by John Valliant, detailing the horrific 2016 Fort McMurray fire in Alberta.Be safe, @JBR. I was just checking the wildfire reports. They never seem to have enough info. I presume you’re on a local discussion group somewhere.
In December, I was assaulted by a deranged passenger. It was so shocking I had a breakdown. Nothing was done, even though the mental health clinic I am attached to filed a separate complaint. Nothing is done. Yes, AAR has damaged me. I could list one hundred incidents. I am dependent on them, at least until the elevator on my subway station is completed. Then I will have more independence. With AAR, I have no control. I don't feel comfortable being controlled by others. Makes me feel helpless and nervous.Pepper tbf..you say it takes a lot to scare you, but you're constantly on edge about everything... especially the Access rides...
I'm sorry that happened to you, no-one should ever be assaulted much less on public transport... but with all due respect you do seem very highly strung about most things. In December, I was assaulted by a deranged passenger. I'm not on edge about 'everything'.
I'm a Passionate Person. Anything else about me you have a problem with?I'm sorry that happened to you, no-one should ever be assaulted much less on public transport... but with all due respect you do seem very highly strung about most things.
A sincere question - if the issue is that your subway station's elevator isn't operational, why not take a cab or uber to the closest SW station with an elevator, bypassing AAR altogether? It might cost a few dollars but wouldn't it be worth it?In December, I was assaulted by a deranged passenger. It was so shocking I had a breakdown. Maybe I don't have "a few dollars."A sincere question - it the issue is that your subway station's elevator isn't operational, why not take a cab or uber to the closest SW station with an elevator, bypassing AAR altogether? It might cost a few dollars but wouldn't it be worth it?
would your son be willing to pay for an uber for you to ensure your safety ?Maybe I don't have "a few dollars."
I apologize for being presumptuous. Given how much anxiety you've expressed about AAR, and your sometimes bad experiences when using it, I'm merely trying to be helpful.Maybe I don't have "a few dollars."
Thank you for your good intentions, but No, it is not useful. What about going home? Do it all in reverse? Double my anxiety?I hope this is useful.
That's quite a bit.Thank you for your good intentions, but No, it is not useful. What about going home? Do it all in reverse? Double my anxiety?
Door to door Uber to my son is $120. One way. A yellow cab is $70-$90; I last took a yellow six years ago the day my grandson was born.
Yes, do it again on the way home. Take public transport to the closest elevator subway stop, then Uber or cab the rest of the way.Thank you for your good intentions, but No, it is not useful. What about going home? Do it all in reverse? Double my anxiety?

...and Uber is more expensive than a yellow Cab ?...wow...it works the other way around here. Uber is by far the more affordable compared to Hackney cabs or private hireThank you for your good intentions, but No, it is not useful. What about going home? Do it all in reverse? Double my anxiety?

You're missing a lot. There are things you don't know. Drop it. Let me use this forum to complain; that is a big help. I didn't ask for advice, btw, and it's starting to really irritate me. I can tell you this because I feel we have a good relationship.Maybe I'm missing something.
