Doing a bit of clean up around the garden spots. Some folks think it's too hot in Florida during the summer to grow much. Ha.
Right now, we have Roma and big boy tomatoes, Idaho potato's, green beans, pinto beans, Roselle hibiscus, (aka Florida cranberry),
blackberry, strawberry’s, celery, radishes and carrots growing.
Sugar cane, grand nain banana... all growing for a month now. (small, but getting there)
Many other varieties just started in cups last week… We plant in buckets that allow us to move plants as necessary.
The banana and Roselle will go in the ground in the spring. Right now my buckets have full sun till 2pm,then shade till the evening rains.
After that sweaty work, I decided to take Big Red out for a quick spin. (keep the fluids moving).
Now, time to sit indoors and watch a movie while we wait for the homemade ice cream to set up. Have to make our own because it's awful hard (and expensive) to find real ice cream, not that frozen dessert they pass off as ice cream.

The joys (flowers) and sorrows (work) of owning a piece of land.

On the left side are blooming Oleander bushes, and the house is surrounded by my wife's potted flowers. The
1992 pickup in the back of the carport is out-of-service and is being used to store large bags of dog food.
I am driving the Toyota Corolla on the left, and my wife the Honda Fit on the right side.

Palm Tree babies are growing like weeds. Near the pond, I don't use Roundup because it could kill the Mosquito Fish in the pond
IMGP4578.JPGIMGP4582.JPG

I gifted 3 of the 4 parcels to my children because I couldn't handle the work longer. But it hasn't sunk in to them yet
that with ownership also comes some maintenance work. Well, I do it again. Time will tell whether I did the right thing.

PS, I just heard my wife screaming in the kitchen. I ran fearing the worst. No, she was merely cheering on the US Team
at the Olympics, LOL!

..I;m not a girly girl.. no knitting or crafts for me in my Shed...:D
The lady's she-shed, as promised.

The first photo shows the lady's cabin as a new build. It's not prefabricated, rather it's bespoke. It has double walls lined with insulation. The second photo shows the wood preservation, not the most attractive of colours, but it does the job, which is important given that it needs to last.

The third photo shows one of her new sewing machines with the cover on. Look into the background, she has working, vintage sewing machines on display stands.

The fourth photo shows the opposite end of the cabin. What you see is the cutting out table and the storage of fabric, patterns and all the bits and bobs like thread, buttons, lining, reinforcement and so on. Collectively they are known as notions.

The last photo shows her overlocker, the machine that gives a professional finish to any garment. There's quite a few photos but it might get repetitive but I can easily show you anything like for example, a work in progress.

Look at the weathervane, it depicts a witch on her broomstick. My lady is one of those people with a strong sense of perception, the number of times that she has been right spooks me, it amused her when I started using "witch" as an analogy for her unnerving talent to know truth from bullshine.

I'm having a lazy day, today. I've got the slow cooker going, for dinner. I've started to read the last book in the "King and Maxwell" series, by David Baldacci. And I've taken

for a few walks. That's my day, in a nutshell.

Tomorrow, I go to a new doctor to find out why my foot hurts. I'm hoping that surgery is not needed. 👣

I went out early this morning and did a couple of quick chores. By Noon, it was time to stop, as the heat and humidity was climbing. If our area forecasts are correct, we will be having some extreme heat for the next 3 or 4 weeks, with daytime highs in the upper 90's, and little or no rain. Late July through early September is usually the worst hot weather here, and it looks like this year will follow that trend.

Hi, kids. DD took me to the supermarket to get the stuff for the caramel apple dump cake. It's done and smells divine! JFR, I did use a Jiffy yellow cake mix and one can of apple pie filling, baked it in a 9x9 square pan. Now that know that works, I'm dreaming up all kinds of combos for dump cake. Jiffy only makes white or yellow cake mix. How about using blueberry pie filling? If I wanted to use a 9x13 pan, how about devil's food and cherry pie filling? Or a spice cake mix with apple?

I put together the ingredients for the chicken pot pie except for the chicken. It's cooked, but I have to wait for it to cool. No matter. We won't eat before 6 anyway.

I've already cleaned up my cooking mess. Now it's time for murder shows to expand my mind. It's been a while, and we don't want my brain to atrophy :ROFLMAO:

Ok, now I want to make a dump cake. Maybe the feeling will pass because I'm not into baking, but I think I will try this; maybe soon.

I'm not an apple person and won't eat apple pie but this sounds good. I found a recipe using fresh apples and a home made salted caramel sauce to put over the vanilla ice cream. Hmmmmm.....

How about this?

Black Forest Brownie Dump Cake

You guys! The chicken pot pie and the apple dump cake were both winners, as in winner winner chicken dinner! The pot pie is gone. The dump cake is almost gone. We warmed it up in the nuke box and served it with vanilla bean ice cream. I'm happy to report that we all belong to the Clean Plate Club and don't have to turn in our belly buttons...get it? LOL

Pie filling from Aldi for sure. It was $5 at Publix so glad I only made the smaller recipe. During the holidays, pie fillings get cheaper so I'll know to buy them then.

When I mentioned hot fudge pudding cake, all four pairs of eyes lit up (DGD's BF joined us for supper). Guess that'll be soon, and yay, it's not expensive (or difficult) to make. I think I bought a box mix for it once years ago, but it tasted like cardboard. Ew. Easier and cheaper to make it myself.

This afternoon I decided it was time to give myself the promised manicure. Cuticle remover, filing, cuticle conditioner, the whole nine yards. It's been three years that I've been clipping my nails rather than filing them. They sure do look a whole lot better now.

It's raining again.

I made some salted caramel sauce recently. It is so good. I still have some in the freezer.
