Was the diagnosis made before or after, another question which people in UK will demand an answer too. Those protesting on the streets are not going to wait, act first ask questions later. As soon as facts are known they should be made public, might avoid more violence and thwart those wishing to spread misinformation. It’s currently being widely reported that Axel Muganwa Rudakubana has been described by a neighbour as a "quiet choir boy", whose family were deeply involved in the local church, his farther being a Christian from Rwanda. According to the CIA website, Rwanda's population is 95.9% Christian.
Also, it was reported that Axel could sometimes be heard singing in the family home, and it’s said that he appeared in a musical in Shaftesbury Theatre in the West End with a school drama group. Otherwise, he was “…very quiet, an introvert…”
It was reported that in court he was rocking back and forth, and side to side. The prosecution said the he had an “autism spectrum disorder diagnosis”, and that he had been “unwilling to leave the house and communicate with family for a period of time”.
I can’t put my finger on any one thing, but when an adult kills a child, it really touches my soul. It sometimes makes me feel like I would like to see Justice done immediately. From the courtroom to the death house. In many Middle east countries they barely even take a suspect to court.. and just exact an eye for an eye justice...
I think that is a natural reaction. It is very difficult to feel anything other than repulsion towards someone who commits such dreadful acts.I can’t put my finger on any one thing, but when an adult kills a child, it really touches my soul. Thrown into this mix are tropes from conspiracy theories that “elites” are somehow covering up the truth - including the abuse of British children.
Yet the BBC have been complicit in protecting men in their organisation from child abuse. Fact. Three highly paid men.![]()
Winston Churchill is credited with saying “Never let a good crisis go to waste.”
Sounds like the far left is taking advantage of that very advice to make hay.
I agree. I think it's worse than death.Life without parole keeps them off the streets as well, and seems to me a much more civilized way of handling crime. This is not coddling; there is nothing enjoyable about being locked up in one of those hellholes for the rest of one's life.
I'm not arguing the facts, Hols. I mean none of the executions have been high profile cases so the general public would not be aware of them. This is why I rarely ever hear of them.1,592 people have been executed in the U.S. since 1973.

As a foreigner from Europe I must admit that in the beginning I didn't know anything of Ted Bundy. I even confused him with the fictional character Al Bundy who obviously was part of a sitcom, which I didn't know alsoAnd when in prison the despicable Ted Bundy did help police to catch serial killer Gary Ridgway. If he had been executed too fast he would not have been able to do that and a lot more girls would have been killed by Ridgway.
Well, you’re close. The UK is a Constitutional Monarchy.I am not sure what this has t o do with the thread - the crime happened in UK, which is not becoming a monarchy, it has always been a monarchy.
I was referring to post #206 above making political hay on this tragedy.Seems more to me that the far right is doing so - all these xenophobic thugs rioting are not from far left.
If that were true why do so many murderers that are facing the death penalty attempt to cut a deal with the D.A. to voluntarily confess if they take getting the death penalty off the table?I agree. I think it's worse than death.
FFS !!Middle Eastern countries are not to be applauded for their vicious ways. IMO

I have just been watching an interview with Gary Ridgeway...honestly you would think butter wouldn't melt....I'm not arguing the facts, Hols. I mean none of the executions have been high profile cases so the general public would not be aware of them. This is why I rarely ever hear of them.

I'm just trying to examine all angles of the issue.

Absolutely correct... this is why we have an elected ParliamentWell, you’re close. The UK is a Constitutional Monarchy.
Why did Tim Mcveigh request to be executed? Was it for the reasons you mention? If that were true why do so many murderers that are facing the death penalty attempt to cut a deal with the D.A. to voluntarily confess if they take getting the death penalty off the table?
I have been in prisons and also been on death row. The prisoners sitting in the general population areas don’t have such a bad life. They are permitted TV sets, radios, they are allowed their own stash of goodies like; candy, chips, etc. Some have jobs and some don’t. If they are forced to work, they usually find a way out of it by going to church, attending club meetings and so on.
Sitting on death row is very unpleasant. They have very few privileges. No TV’s is one of them. They get 3 showers per week and are allowed out of their cell 1 hour per day where they can go to the yard or the all purpose room to watch a bit of TV.
The big argument has always been that it costs a lot of money to keep a prisoner on death row. By the time the state pays for all of the appeals, lawyers, collecting evidence, plus clothing and feeding them is a waste of money. Most prisoners do not get the best medical treatment. If they have cancer, they can figure they don’t have a lot of time left. I went over to New Jersey just before retirement to bring back a lifer to PA and the Assistant Warden had told me the average age of a male that was sentenced to life dies around the age of 59.

umm, righto. The two of you are exactly what's wrong with our increasingly polarized Western society. Perfect examples throughout numerous threads of "go team" ideological mindset.
