What do you think is 99% hype?

More and more I believe major cable TV news providers are 99% hype. Hype and hysteria. I didn’t used to see them this way - really respected them for years - but, IDK, either I’m getting older and losing my tolerance or they are getting more anxious in their presentations.

I have really started shopping around when I want to watch TV news. I have found a few good alternatives, but I have to shut off most election news no matter where I go because it is also, IMO, about 90% hype.

Ancient Aliens and UFO phenomena. Those dopey aliens. If they are flying around, why not just quit showing off and introduce themselves already.
If you were observing humanity would you want to engage with us? Any space traveling species would likely have high levels of curiosity (as we do). So their visiting, looking in on us could be similar to the way many of us are fascinated by disasters, gawking when passing by them.

I think the aliens would skip reaching out to humans and go straight to the dolphins to figure out what was going on with this planet.

"Reliable Sources" ...so not a reality, yet the "go team" left and right claim only theirs are.

There are left biased news sources and right biased news sources with precious little in between. But ideological adherents either are too brainwashed or intellectually lazy to read from a selection and try to find kernels of truth.

I think 99% of hype eventually becomes overshadowed by that 1% moment you feel when you realise you fell for it.

... we find kernels of truth by tracking them to their source.

Opinion: Every Rx drug and most over-the-counter drugs have side effects.

And? I'm not sure why this is an issue. A drug either works for the issue it's prescribed to address, or it doesn't. I mean, aspirin is commonly used for headaches, but it can upset the stomach of some (it never has for me, but whatever). Is it not useful because it might have such a side effect?

Drinking a Coke to quench a thirst has a side effect of adding sugar to your system, and may have a side effect of affecting your sleep due to the caffeine, but hey, what doesn't have some kind of side effect?

Actually, the best place to start on the internet is by researching the site the information is posted on. Is it right-wing, left-wing, etc. Are the writers known for being biased, and what other stories have they written? Usually it's not difficult to find out the truth of the matter.
