After learning that most ice cream isn't really ice cream, (thus the tittle "frozen deserts"), and contains no dairy, I decided to make my own. Started making it early this morning.
Found out that 1... you don't need an ice cream machine, a plain old mixer will do and 2... it's relatively easy to make.
Started with some fresh whipping cream, whipped in my mixer, added sweet canned milk, (could use evaporated but then would have had to add sugar), and mixed in some chopped strawberries from our garden that I had previously frozen . A little more whipping and then, poured into a container. Now, here's the secret.... cover the mixture with parchment paper before sealing the container and that way, you don't get the freezer burn... or as I call it... protective ice.

Pretty simple and came out great.
