Had to replace a broken PTO Torsion Spring on the deck of my evil lawn maintenance device because the blade wasn't properly engaging with the engine drive pulley. Sharpened the blade while I was right there at it. The joys of home ownership ~~~

After learning that most ice cream isn't really ice cream, (thus the tittle "frozen deserts"), and contains no dairy, I decided to make my own. Started making it early this morning.
Found out that 1... you don't need an ice cream machine, a plain old mixer will do and 2... it's relatively easy to make.
Started with some fresh whipping cream, whipped in my mixer, added sweet canned milk, (could use evaporated but then would have had to add sugar), and mixed in some chopped strawberries from our garden that I had previously frozen . A little more whipping and then, poured into a container. Now, here's the secret.... cover the mixture with parchment paper before sealing the container and that way, you don't get the freezer burn... or as I call it... protective ice. 🤣
Pretty simple and came out great. (y)
That is great. It also helps to stir it every couple hours but you don't have to.🍨

Today was ok. Some Tai Chi in the park. A nice lunch of chicken and bacon caesar salad. An hour with Likkle Grandson playing on his scooter. Catching up on some photo editing as I have a full day freelance job tomorrow and hate getting a backlog. Tomorrow I leave by train at 8am and back about 8pm. Full day at the Pride Parade and event in my old hometown. A photo gig I've done every year (apart from the lockdown years) since the first one in about 2015. Always a long hard day but full of energy and colour. Fabulous :)

At 10pm this evening I was battling to stay awake. I mean...to the point where I knew if I blinked for more than 2 seconds I would be gone from this world for a few hours 😴😴 so I didn't dare, because it would have been disastrous, I would have woken up far too early..and then I;d be tired all day Saturday...

I ate some chocolate.. a lot of chocolate.. 4 chocolates in total.. and that woke me up completely.. and now here I am at 1.30am still wide awake and wishing I could get tired....

Incidentally I meant to mention yesterday that I seem to have an inordinate amount of Butterflies in my garden this year. All sorts of colours and patterns... I've not managed to photograph any yet.. but hopefully one will land long enough for me to grab my camera

Sorry, the date imprint shows a wrong month.

Today is the last day of my 46 y/o daughter being at home. We spent most of the day at Newport Beach. Tomorrow, she flies
back to work in China where the expat community is already waiting for her. At Christmas she'll came again home.

Left: First, we went to "Jon's Fresh Market Place" in Westminster where I bought my favorite "Brathering" (marinated fried
herring) and "Bismarck" herrings (similar.) We could buy the same closer at home at Old World in Huntington Beach or
Gorge's Market in Yucaipa, but they are much more expensive. Today's stash should last a few weeks.

Right: a map of my favorite hangout, namely Newport Beach. First we took a walk along the estuary and ecological reserve
(top red dot.) Then we went window shopping at the charming and quaint Balboa Island within the Newport Bay (first red dot
below.) From Balboa Island we took the ferry (second dot from the bottom) to Balboa on the beach where we spent some time
on the pier (bottom red dot) watching the surf. Finally we had a snack at a harbor restaurant (left red dot.) PS, from Balboa
leaves the ferry to Catalina Island 30 miles offshore.

Just a wonderful day spending time with my daughter.

All beaches in California are public property. Unlike in other states, California has no private beach access.

I accomplished important things these last couple of days. Wednesday, I put away the Amazon and Chewy orders, which entailed rotating stock and storing certain items differently . Yesterday I went to the supermarket early in the morning and put away the groceries immediately because everything was for the fridge and freezer. Later I had more groceries to put away because my son stopped at Costco after work. Again, mostly refrigerated items. I'm glad I was able to make room for everything.

Today I washed white clothes in the house. As I mentioned before using my little machines is a "process". Our laundry room is closed again due to flooding and we're supposed to get more rain, so I doubt that it will open in the next couple of days. I sorted the dark clothes to be done tomorrow and I also got a bag of light clothes ready for when the laundry room reopens. Haven't done laundry since I returned from my mini vacation so I'd gotten backed up. I didn't put away the clothes I washed today, but had to finish putting away the laundry from last time to make room in the basket. I also Swiffered the bedroom floor and refilled some containers from the bulk sizes.

I cleaned up the kitchen and disinfected the counter and sink so my son could prep the vegetables to put in his bean soup. After he finished that, we had studio time. He set up the midi keyboard so I could add a two note chord to a spot that sounded strange without it. It's the last song we needed to work on before he does the mastering of the project. I didn't nap today, which lately, is unusual.

You certainly stay busy! That's good for you. 😊

Picking up one granddaughter today for an overnight visit. First time without her big sister who has her own sleepover with a friend.
I have been going through pictures on my phone and putting them in folders. It is unbelievable the amount that is in your phone!!
They are also hidden in your text messages under shared attachments.
It's going to take while then I'll move them all to the laptop. I could move them first but I can do this in car, appointments, wherever I have some time.
Good news is I've found some hidden gems!

Good morning. It's gonna be hot again today, and there's still no rain in sight for at least a week.

All those plants that followed me home yesterday need to be put in the ground first thing this morning. DD, DGD and I are going to the Square later (but before it gets too hot) because we haven't been there in ages for the Saturday morning market. Lots of crafts and interesting foods and stuff. I hope I can keep my money in my pocket💸💸

Time to put on my grubbies and get a wiggle on.

the good thing about an iphone is that pictures on the phone go automatically in the Photos folders and library on my Mac , so no manual transfer is required
