Morning all folks!!!! Had a wierd sleep nite, up n down, so on and so forth....ah well....feel okay today, always tired it seems...
GG I did see the fox last nite, had thrown 2 hot dogs out for it,
but didn't try to get pics, don't want to scare it too much....
Got a couple small projects today, if the old bod will last long
enuff....nothing really earth shattering,.....I'm needing to take
it slow on how long i spend on computer as my hands are
objecting to the mouse time....ah well....catch u later, have a

@hollydolly Posting fail! I need to rest my brain for a bit and try later.

This generation...a therapist is an absolute must. No therapist? OMG! The sky is falling! My old brain says that a good therapist leads you to the tools you need to deal with the problem(s) and bids you a fond farewell, wishing you good luck and a nice life. Not so with them...it's a lifetime thing. Arrange your time/day/life and money around therapy.

This generation...I swear all they talk to each other about is what they perceive as problems. Well, wait. They only have conversations via text. It's rare for them to actually meet face-to-face and say words aloud. A phone conversation? No. "Text me."

Gimme a freaking break.

I'm gonna get dressed and go out to the garden.
 
One more thing. GenZ's definition of "problems" seems to mostly be somebody's tone of voice or what in a text might be construed as the tone, who said what and when, who's talking behind your back, how to pay student loans with only a part-time retail sales job (because a full-time job is too much and too hard), yada yada yada.

I wanna just scream "Grow the eff up!!!!" Take up a sport, volunteer at a food bank/homeless shelter/church/school. Do something. Make a decision. Just. Quit. 🚫Whining🚫
 
I've put the washing on... I like to get it done while we have dry warm weather so I can get it hung out to dry since my dryer broke down last month.

I was concerned about space for the dryer in the compact kitchen in the apartment I spoke of.. because there is no space for it.. and both my DD and the agent suggested I put it in the Spare bedroom..well there's no way I want a TD in a bedroom.. ..so really this is another thing that is putting me off the place..but I had a lightbulb moment.. and I googled and found that there is a Laundrette within two hundred yards of the flats ...so that could be my solution..

Phil Donahue died :(. He was so nice and so fun. When DH and I were on his show, he came back to the green room to schmooz and help us eat all the goodies that the green room was stocked with for guests. This makes me sad. He's one of those people who should have lived forever or at least until after I die.

The crew got home around 930 last night and went straight to bed. DD texted and said she'd talk to me in the morning. I don't know if they gave her a diagnosis, but after blood work, MRI, ultrasound, CT and xrays one would think there'd be an idea at least. I asked if there was a bone scan. No.

DSIL had to go to the hospital to pick them up because DD was so pumped full of painkillers that she couldn't drive. They'll probably fetch her car today. Also, DGD has an in-person therapy appointment this morning. That won't happen because the appointment is too far away to consider Uber. One more reason why DGD needs to get over being too "nervous" to drive.

I swear this place revolves around what DGD wants/needs. DD's hip/knee/leg problem seems to rapidly getting worse. Maybe it's time for DGD's wants to take a backseat. Needs are a different story, but being able to drive would help there, too.

Yesterday's events left me exhausted, and I didn't even have to leave The Hovel.

@CinnamonSugar Are you feeling more like yourself today? @hawkdon How's "our" fox doing? @hollydolly Did the crew finish trimming and feeding their wood chipper yesterday?

@hearlady Be sure to strip the leaves that are affected by the fungus and discard them. My zinnias do well until about the first of August every year, then the fungus gets them even though I take great care to spray and to not water them too much. I take the bad leaves off and still have plenty of flowers on bare stalks, but they'll only survive about another two or three weeks.

I planted some seeds (in another area where I don't think fungus is a problem) because the packet said there's only about 30-35 days until blooming. Don't know if I believe it. These are giant zinnias, and some are planted in pots.

DGD changed her appointment to a video call. DD/DSIL are gone to get her car from the hospital parking lot...15 miles away in the city. Monday morning. Better them than me.

Doc didn't know what the problem was yesterday. Sent her home with a crapton of meds for pain.
 
Well I got the washing hung up outside on the line, and suddenly it feels like it might rain. :cautious:

Got some sausages in red onion gravy cooked up to freeze in batches...

Sent an email to the agent asking to arrange an appointment for me to come ad look at the property in person...

Assembles a new little set of shelves that I bought just to house my electronic gadgets when they're charging.. in the office room

Is it 3 bedrooms. I love the idea of my laundry area in my closet/aka 3rd bedroom.

For us, life has returned to something more normal. We've stopped moving possessions into the storage unit. My tasks today will be maintenance-related and also in the garden. And it's again my turn in the kitchen for supper.

Things have changed for the better around here, and of course we hope they hold. The main wildfires have been at least partially controlled, bounded in certain ways. Though it's said it could still take weeks put them more thoroughly out. It can take months to put out isolated pockets of fire in conifer forests. Less smoke in the air now. All evacuation orders have been rescinded, though certain residential areas are still under evacuation alert. There's no alert in my neighborhood at present.

The crews on the several fires have been reduced, and less aircraft & heavy equipment is being employed at this point. Additional lightning strikes (if any) and dry weather with strong winds could still be adverse factors.

very pleased to hear things are all getting back to normal now for you.

Instead Southern France has got the wildfires now, and have had to evacuate 3,000 people..

I am so glad to hear the fires are more under control and have somewhat abated. It must be awful to live like that for so long.

For 3 days we had smokey air from Canadian fires. Probably not yours. Did it cross your mind to move elsewhere because of those fires? I wonder what I would do.

I was thinking about not paying to have them done, because I really am liking the London flat I saw.. but I just can't make up my mind whether to decide to have the flat or not. ...so I am just as well to have the trees done in case I don't move house .

Giving up all my outside land, storage & privacy for basically living in a Goldfish bowl ( apartment with a small balcony and no outside storage) it's just a huge decision, and I'm not sure I can do it. DD is all for it, she thinks I need to downsize a lot..

The flat is in a lovely part of London, within a 15 minute walking distance of a great high street with all the amenities and shops...and also 2 tube stations nearby... and there's even a park next door.. but it's a huge decision to change to a very small apartment after living all my adult life in houses with a lot of space.

Right must go, the gardener is due any minute...

I did something similar 3 years ago and absolutely love it. Last night I cooked dinner for 5 friends that I met in my building. We have so much fun together, sometimes get together on the spur of the moment because we live together in the same building. I sit on my balcony and look at the beautiful courtyard. I feel safe and it’s easy to clean 855 sq ft.

A friend yesterday wanted to see the closet organizer my son installed and said “ wow you have so few clothes. It’s double rods and slightly less than half of the closet. I read that most people only wear 25% of their clothes because we all have our favorites. I only kept my favorites. If I buy 2 new tops I get rid of 2. You are taking new clothes to the thrift store with tags on or something only worn once. You have the space so are filling it. It’s very freeing to downsize. I love living right in town.

Since we sometimes misunderstand each other I am definitely not criticizing you but just sharing my experience. I also brought too much furniture and stuff with me because it’s hard to estimate what will fit. I either sold or gave away the excess furniture and took the extra stuff to the thrift store.

When my parents were 65 they sold their house and rented a 1100 sq ft apartment and loved it. I think change is good as we go through the different stages of our lives. You and I are the same age and both alone for similar reasons and length of time. It’s definitely a big adjustment.
 
@hollydolly Take a tape measure along. Make notes of wall space, placement of doors and how much of said wall space they take up when open, dimensions of rooms and closets. Am I telling you something you didn't already know? LOL

@hawkdon Giving away a rocking chair? Are you sure you wanna do that? If it's a wooden one with a straight back, rethink it. Those are helpful when you have a bad back. Speaking of your back, I'm gonna tell you to never, ever, ever bend from the waist. Never. Bend from the knees. You hear me? Bending from the waist is almost a guarantee that you'll mess up your back, pull a muscle, make your life miserable. In the meantime, next time you order stuff for delivery, get yourself some of those heated back patches. The one brand that comes to mind is Salon Pas, but there are plenty of others. Probably a store brand is just as good.

I'm not having a good day. There are dishes to wash. My nails need to be filed and shaped. The part of the lawn that's been reseeded needs to be watered. And DD said earlier that she's going to come over to "visit" this afternoon. No. Please don't. Just leave me alone for a day or three. Please.

@hollydolly And when you get home, measure your furniture, of course, so you can "see" what will fit where. There's probably a website where you can lay out the floor plan to help figure out furniture placement. That'll help you to unload stuff that you can't take along (and still leave room for my stuff, too, when I move in with you).
