Tomato Sandwich (Which my husband & I thoroughly enjoy!)

I really love Sliced tomatoes on hot toast ... however it gives me horrible heartburn so I rarely have it...

I too love tomatoes but am allergic, allergic to anything with acid (especially citric). If I were on Death Row and choosing my last meal, it would include a nice, ripe, juicy tomato with salt on it. (And it'd really have to be my last meal, lol; the last time I made the mistake of eating just one slice of a tomato--I just couldn't resist--Huzz thought he was going to have to take me to the Emergency Room I had such gastro pain.

My mom used to make a dinner where she hollowed out large tomatoes, stuffed them with tuna (+ celery and red onion), and baked them. Stuffed baked tomatoes. It was pretty good.

My mom did something very similar. Maybe even the same. I never took note to the ingredients, other than the tuna and onion.

One of God's great gifts to humanity, a juicy beefsteak tomato on white bread (rye or whole wheat won't work but you can use Italian white 'cause it holds up better with the juice) with lots of mayo and salt.

Food for the gods, best eaten over the sink.

I think you're right about the peas. My brother liked a slice of cheese on his stuffed tomato....tuna melt stuffed tomato.

Yeah, tomato sandwiches are really good. I like a little garlic on mine. Just a dash of powdered garlic. So mine is tomato, lettuce, mayo, and a little garlic on lightly toasted bread. No onion. Scallions are ok, but, for me, bulb onions don't enhance the flavor of a nice, fresh tomato.

Murrmurr, the next time I make a Tomato Sandwich, I'll be sure to add a dash of garlic powder on the tomato, plus serve with lettuce as well. My bread will be toasted.

I lived in a MHP and did have much ground to grow things, I found a place whee I could grow a couple of tomato plants.
We had a tradition thet the first eripe tomato would go into BLY sandwiches..
