Facebook (aka Meta) has an awful lot of hacked profiles. Instagram is part of FB, so that probably gets hacked too. It is said that TikTok, under current control, harvests user information and that's why the government was trying to ban it here in America. I don't understand why the confusion! :unsure:

Well I think all of us are long in the tooth when it comes to forums, so we already know this very well

Some of us may be, but others may not be. I've seen posts/replies from members who admit they are not computer savvy, so if they venture to other websites the unsavvy-ness might carry over. Hell, I've been of FB for years and some things still confuse me and give me pause.

Diva I've noticed recently...you're beginning to get into a habit of picking me up on everything I post.. it's getting a little tiring !!

Habit?! I think not. I notice you do it too...but it's okay when you do it, huh HD?! (And I'm not saying with me...I've noticed recently you doing it with others). I'm not trying to pick a fight but I don't see why I can't comment on something I'm trying to get or give clarity about. So Baby....your getting tired? Go take your rest! :LOL: And have a nice day.

I think you are..you've just accused me of something. ... that's even if were true, is non of your business..

..but you in almost every post of mine have had something critical to say. yet I've never criticised you once .. ever..even tho; tbh, there's a lot that could be said.....You don't like what I post then put me on ignore.. I'll be very happy for you to ignore me. I'm fed up with your criticism.. of my conversations with other people.

Almost every post...now you are exaggerating! I notice you didn't respond or even react to my reply saying I was sorry you were going through (whatever it was) and I hope things get better (or words to that effect). I don't recall the exact thread now. I've also wished you the best in being victorious in your ongoing battle with your husband. But you choose to overlook those things.

As far as something not being my business...this is a public forum. If I want to comment on something, I will. Think what you want but do not accuse me of something I am not doing. As of this reply...I'm done with it!

You can comment on anything you like... what you can't do is continually criticise me, gor something that either I've not done or is none of your business...

I don't criticise your posts .. even if I don't agree with hem....and as far as seeing posts of yours that I didn't reply to, that would be because I didn't see them...simple as tat. It gives you no right to criticise my posts for no reason... and expect me no to respond.. so do me a favour and put me on ignore , that way my conversations with other people can be MY business.. and not yours... because I really don't care about your opinions on anything !
 
In the 1970s, I have a cousin, who won some money in the lottery. This was in the day, when they presented the winner with those big cardboard checks, and her name and address was in the phonebook. And for a good year, she had people banging on her door, 24/7 wanting donations. She was always calling the cops. That's why I'm mindful never to give detailed info online. They're out there.

yep and those of us who have been using the internet for decades know this is going on and are careful when online..
 
Haven't read all the posts.

Last couple of days have been getting messages from our neighbor's daughter.
First she was trying to get me to sign up for some sort of grant about block community.

Send me pictures of the $$ they send her..??

Finally told her 'Thanks but No Thanks.'

Next message was "Can you buy me an Apple card?
I forgot mine."

By then I was wondering how to block her messages.

This morning send her a message, "Sorry not doing that ."

Gee,, I joined Facebook to learn about area yard sale, estate sales
Some times my son would post pictures of what was going on with him.

As I'm reading this...I wondered if someone hacked her (neighbor's daughter) account. 🤔 That Apple gift card thing is a very scam move. Or is she known to do shady things?
 
Maybe it is you that has been hacked. I get the occasional gorgeous dirt bag scammer guy, out on an oil rig, who thinks i am beautiful, and wants to have a relationship with me. Other than that, my Facebook is just fine.

You just have to remember this forum is not private. Anyone can find it and see our posts. I think that is how I actually found this board. Careful what you share in the internet world.

Some of us exchanged greeting cards,, meant in person.

I've sold things on Ebay & later bought things or sold a few things on Craigslist.

I thought this wasn't my neighbor's daughter.
I don't private message many folks.

When did most of you become internet users?

the 90's for me.. Ebay started in 1995 around the same time I started using the internet .. so it's about 30 years now...

I bought and sold..mainly sold on ebay for many years...

used to do all sorts online in those days from creating videos, music CD's.. collages, you name it... buying and selling..

I don't do any of these things now..
 
I got on the internet in the 90's. I remember starting an email account when DH was recovering in the hospital from open heart surgery. I needed to keep three college kids informed in between visits.
I played with the "World Wide Web" while working at my desk in HR at Sears.
Facebook came later.

It is best to be vigilant certainly. I do very little on Facebook, never accept stranger requests or click any link anywhere. I only maintain very few messenger contacts, just longstanding friends and we know each other's style of writing. I never do quizzes and all that. Use all security settings, it really is best.
