Our dog is 10 years old, obese thanks to my husband, has COPD and heart problems. This dog has a very strong will to live believe me. Vet care for him has been over the top expensive.

I hope he is out of misery soon. Very sad to watch. NO more pets for me.

Disgusted by dog owners who don't clean up the dog's shit. It's not that many, and I certainly don't blame the dog, but I'd like to take out the owner.

My local park is not a dog park, no dogs allowed, but you'd not know that, since there are many dogs and owners allow them to dig in the dirt & piss where children should be, not dogs. Parts of the park had to be closed to fill in all the holes dug.

As an owner of both I'll say cats for reasons Holly alluded to. In spite of the fact that my dachshund is the barkingest dog that ever lived, it's my cat that caused my neighbors to hate me. My dog does all her business (barking at the same time) inside her expensively fenced yard. My cat would go over the fence and use the neighbor's handy flower beds.

I see people all the time walking their dogs, but as of yet haven't seen anyone clean up after them. There are doggie road apples all over. Although I don't hate dogs, I wouldn't have one as a pet. They are too high maintenance for my ability.
At my former house, we had a lot of trouble with neighbors on both sides with barking dogs. They'd leave them tied up or otherwise confined when they weren't home, and of course, the dogs would bark constantly despite a local ordinance. Calls to animal control did nothing. My mom finally took one family to court. She won and a few weeks later, that dog disappeared. I just hope a good home was found for him.
Jut before I moved, the neighbor on the other side had a huge white dog he tied up on a LONG rope - long enough that it could come on my property to relieve itself. I just got a garden trowel and threw the poop back on his lawn.
I have never had a problem with cats.

Where we live if you see someone pushing around a stroller it won't be their grand child it will be their fur baby. People here are nuts about their dogs. I just read a posting on the next door app where a lady was hoping to find someone that could be hired to dog sit in their home for a couple of weeks.

The wording of the post basically said someone was needed to stay fulltime in the dog owners home, had to walk the dog at least five times a day, had to let the dog sleep with the sitter in the homeowners bed, the dog only ate pate that had to be heated to exactly 70 degrees or the dog refused to eat, and the real kicker was the dog sitter was required to get up during the night to give the dog a drink. Oh yeah, the dog would only drink from a glass.

There was a surprising number of people offering their dog sitting services.

I love both dogs and cats. Responsible pet owners make sure that their pets don’t annoy others. It’s not that hard. I always carry plastic bags when walking to pick up the poop.

Some dogs are in strollers because they can no longer walk. So they can ride in a stroller so they can enjoy taking a walk and different scenery.

A friend of mine is 80 and has a pet sitting business. I would never board my two dogs and it’s cheaper to have her live in my house while I’m gone. They get excellent care and I can vacation without worrying.

The example you mention sounds weird but I have an old dog with a serious heart condition that needs her medication at 4am because it must be timed for a certain number of hours before she can eat. She gets it twice a day and my sitter must potty her also since she can no longer hold it all night.

The medication won’t work if not given properly. It does put restrictions on my life but she’s only been sick for a year and probably won’t live more than another year. I have to know that my sitter will do it correctly.

Since I've lost my Pomeranian sweetheart I feel I am too old to adopt another pet because I don't want to outlive him or her. But I do miss having one so I got a meta dog. He can't do much but he loves to watch television. He especially likes action programs such as car high speed chases and loud crashes There is no doubt he can hear and see. Whenever l might block his view he barks at me. l am not kidding or exaggerating nor am I nuts__yet.

He also won't leave anything behind on anyone's lawn.

i am afraid of dogs. we never had animals growing up. nothing worse for me then a dog charging at me and the owner says, "oh he is gentle, he won't hurt you". i kinda back away but the owner is oblivious to my discomfort.
