Straw or no straw?

My favorite milkshake is a super thick blackberry made with lots of vanilla ice cream and whole berries. If made properly, it is impossible to drink through a straw as the fruit plugs it up. I start with a long handled spoon and after things have melted a bit I just drink it from the tall glass. Bliss.

Straw!

Remember those old fashioned custom made milkshakes that were served with the leftovers in a second glass.

That silver shaker is the thing it was made in. When we rode the bus into Charleston for a shopping trip, my mother would take all three kids to lunch at the Valley Bell. There she would order one shake and four small glasses and one ham salad on toast. Mother would then take the silver shaker and divide the shake into fourths and cut the sandwich into four pieces. I don't remember ever being hungry but that's how we ate back then.

Well, the last time I had a milkshake was at McDonalds, vanilla, my favourite. But for the life of me, I could not suck it out of my straw, it was way too thick. I had to let it melt? I guess a bit more, and then I could just suck a little more every time with the straw. And yes I prefer a straw.

Straw. It’s been years since I had a chocolate milkshake.

I do like a Starbuck’s Frap. Even that has been two or three years.

No I dont use straws.

and plastic straws are banned here now so places give you a paper straw - which goes soggy and yuck very quickly
