Speaking of bored.
I crocheted a blanket years ago. I used cotton yarn and just did three rows of different colors and alternated multi colors with single colors. In the middle I did a strip of six rows then used the same color scheme on the other side. I used more warm colors until I was near the middle and for some reason added white and pinks and baby blue.
It ruined the look and for that reason never liked the blanket.
I am in the process of taking those objectionable rows out and replacing them with some gray and sage and a warm pink.
It will still be a slightly odd combo but I'm much more satisfied.
Now that's bored!

I've been that bored before as well..

Currently I have a whole load of stuff that needs to be done..I don't mean housework.. but technical stuff etc.. and I just can't motivate myself..:p

On my early walk at 6:40,temp was 63,sun was peaking thru the clouds as I walked around the building
After breakfast, will walk back to old apt building{3 blocks or 10 min} to drop off papers/ magazine, book to my friend Mary. I'll continue my walk to Walgreens 6 more blocks, need a couple items, take the bus home
The rest of my day, take an afternoon walk, read NYT, go to dinner at 5:30. I never know who I'll be sitting with when I make my daily reservation, a good way to meet other residents I don;t know well
After dinner, do daily NYT crossword puzzle, read my book

@hawkdon And I start un-clicking just about the time you get started.

Once again I can't seem to get warm. I did manage to get myself outside and even as far as putting on my Wellies, thought better of it because it's too cool out there and took them off to come back in The Hovel. I'll give it another hour.

This morning is seed planting. I think.

Hello to you on this chilly day! This should be my last morning for long britches, the warm up starts tomorrow.

😴 I slept in (again!!!), so I feel like I'm late in getting the day started (again!!!).

Yesterday, I watched "Top Gun Maverick". The movie was longer than I anticipated, but I enjoyed it. Regardless, the day got away from me. I guess I'm just slowing down, I'm always running out of time for the things that I need/want to do!

Time for me to get going. Today is gym, Dio's appointment, Library, small grocery store, and pizza. Catch y'all later!

I goofed up big time,,,Doctor appointment was at local hospital.
We drove to other hospital, only to get told ,, you are supposed to at hometown hospital .

The office girl called the doctor & told him it would take us 45 minutes to get back.
So back we went & did to see the doctor!

Won't have to see him for year!

Now back to doing whatever we are doing today.

Our house is located in the Inland Empire that is surrounded by mountain ranges. Three of them have currently wildfires that are threatening houses, but luckily we are safe.

Santa Ana Mountains "Airport fire"
Airport fire in OC’s Trabuco Canyon grows to 5,432 acres, evacuation warnings spread to Riverside County

San Bernardino Mountains "Line fire"
More than 36,000 homes and structures threatened as Line fire grows to 20,553 acres on Sunday night

San Gabriel Mountains "Bridge fire" out of control

Southern California facing bad air quality, more fire danger

A message from our local legislator Ken Calvert: another 11 massive C-130H air tankers will be permanently employed to fight California's wildfires.

Left: this morning, the sun was mostly hidden by smoke from our current wildfires
Right: our house is right in the center of the wildfire smoke

Because of poor air quality, I don't go on our usual walks. But the pups still need to stretch their legs every now and then. IMG_4932.JPG

Left: my neighbor is getting rid of the jungle that served as a refuge for homeless people. I am feeling sorry for them but (a) they don't clean up their garbage, and (b) many are mentally sick and pose a danger to "normal" folks. -- I am helping my neighbor with my laser level to get the grading done right.
Right: did anyone complain about being "bored?" I would gladly accept any help I can get; I don't have time complaining about being bored. The modern lithium battery operated power tools enable me to keep working even in old age, getting close to 90.

On a happier note, our new Vizio Smart TV's we just bought have supposedly 6,000 free programs. I didn't count them, but they do include my favorite English comedies, "Keeping up Appearances," and the "Benny Hill Shows." The $158 for the 40" TV's were worth buying just for those programs. Tonight I'll search for, "As Time Goes Bye." Thanks for the reminder @Blessed

@packleader, check to see if you have "As Time Goes Bye" it is another BBC show that is great IMO.
Stay inside and out of the smoke, I know the dogs need to go out to potty but I would limit the time they are allowed out. What is not good for you is also not good for them. Best wishes the fires are out soon.

It has been a challenging couple of days. Went to Walmart early AM and when I came out the car would not start. I tried to jump it with no luck. Walked the 1/2 mile home carrying four bags of groceries, there were things that needed to be in the fridge.

It was tough, the sidewalks are not level, with the groceries and a hip replacement it was hard. Called a wrecker and the auto shop to let them know the car was coming in. Mechanic called later in the day and it was the battery, so far gone it would not take a charge. Lucky that it was still in warranty so there was no cost. The wrecker I can send into my car insurance and have that expense paid back to me.

He had replaced the battery, the car was ready but I could not face another long walk to the shop to get it. He was happy to keep it overnight for me.

I walked to get it this morning at 7, was still a hard walk even without the groceries. Why are sidewalks not poured even. The hip screamed the whole way. Of course, I have not walked much this summer with the heat. I will try to get out and walk as soon as true fall temps come. I don't mind walking when others would consider it cold.

I am still in the up all night and sleep during the day mode. I am trying to get this turned around so I am awake during more daylight hours. I think it may be something genetic. My Mom was this way when she got older. When she lived with me it was hard to get her to bed at a decent hour. She would go to bed at 2AM and sleep until noon. I could not go to bed until I had her safely tucked in. I could live with even that schedule.

I am trying to stay awake as long as possible today. I have tried to stay busy, made a big batch of chicken tortilla soup. Some of it will go into the freezer. Trying to get a jump start of soup in the freezer for when the cool/cold weather arrives.

Hope you all are well and preparing for the cold temps to come. For those of you that get the snow and ice build up your pantries and freezer so you won't have to go out in bad weather.

Aren't there cabs/car service where you live @Blessed?
Only uber or lyft, which I have never used. Also, I do not have a cell phone. Guess I know I should consider getting one. I did not want to call my son, he was at work and 30 minutes away. You know, sometimes we just have to suck up the anxiety and deal with the situations we are handed. Not easy but good for us in the long run.

The forget-me-not and johnny jump-up seeds were planted this morning. Then I got sick. Me? Sick? Chills, fever, nausea and too weak to walk. Since I rarely get even a mild case of anything, it probably only seemed bad. DD gave me something for nausea around 10. I went to sleep and just woke up.

Took a covid test. It was negative.

Drank some ginger ale and ate some saltines. Hope it stays down better than breakfast did:sick:

Do you think a call to your eye surgeon just to be safe would be a good idea? Sometimes problems present in ways that may not be a thought. Your eyes may seem fine but could be a warning of a problem. Please call!!

Tuesday is Tai Chi morning. A good class working on the Ba Duan Jin (8 Brocades) set then some work on some of the footwork from the CMC 37 form. A good class! In the afternoon I went to the local Nature Reserve and photographed some waders and all three of the white Egrets we get here. Little, Cattle and Great White.
