Englishmen and Thai women

My personal opinion is not positive on this subject. I have known of several Englishmen, who go to Thailand regularly. I am afraid I just do not respect them. I mean, what ARE they going there for except the obvious?

The cases I know of have turned out badly. Take one gentleman of our acquaintance, he just won't learn! Each Thai woman he has got involved with has turned out to be in it for the money and proceeded to drop him or cheat on him as soon as she found out he hadn't got any! He still goes there in hope.

The crux of the matter is that it is often the older men, well past their prime, who get so dazzled and carried away when young beautiful girls seem fascinated with them. They are blind to the potential disaster of it all.

Sorry to be so cynical but it is how I see it. I could of course be totally wrong and there may well be many happy successful marriages with Thai girls?

I don't know where the nearest redlight street is in my area, never mind Thailand. A Google search came up with a major prostitution business in Thailand- apparently any kind of fetish with any kind of mate is available.
And sadly that is true. When we were stationed with the USAF in England a few of the troops we knew would go to Thailand every time they had leave. Like Rose, I have no respect for them. Whether legal or not, and I'm talking about any country's redlight district, the workers are hugely exploited and mistreated.

I have zero sympathy for men who choose women for youth and looks and then find out they're only in it for the money. What else?

From what I've seen recently the Philippines is a more common destination, at least for U.S. men. Some simply go there to retire, and then meet and marry there. Others move there hoping to find a woman to settle down with.

I don't know what the odds are of finding somebody and settling down, or how many get into trouble. But few go there just to find a bride to bring back home.

The draw seems to be a culture which hasn't lost its values and younger women who aren't narcissistic monsters. The stories I've heard insist that one must put the culture there first and accept it before thinking of looking for a wife.

It doesn't surprise me at all to hear Western women try to cast it all in the most tawdry, dire, and dangerous light though. Shaming is core to the schtick of the Western k'ween.

It certainly isn't for me but I can completely understand the attraction of a less stressful, more traditional life to someone who really wants marriage at an older age.

I have a relative* who went there to live after retirement. He was very open about what he wanted. Low cost of living and a subservient Thai girlfriend. Evidently he has both now. I don’t even know what to say about that situation except nada, nada, limonada.

* I want to say former relative, since he is related to my ex. BUT truth is stranger than fiction since my ex and I are still related by marriage! Our cousins are married to each other. Sometimes there’s no getting away!

Many men are attracted to East Asian women because of their unique traditional marriage values, and their extremely feminine physical and personality traits, and not just because of sex.

As long as everybody is of age and understands why they are involved it’s ok with me but don’t come crying when things don’t work out as planned.
Whatever people do is on them.

There has always been plenty of prostitution around many US military bases. In the US it is discrete and quietly tolerated. Overseas though illegal is often very open. During the Viet Nam War, Thailand was a major R&R destination for US troops and when they left leaving a void, the rest of the Western World came. There are other countries where it is just as open. Before the modern era across the planet, there had always been sex industries, especially at seaports and in war zones.

It is another sad reality of human cultures in this way way overpopulated planet. Is driven by poverty, a huge wealth gap, greed centered seksualized media, and large percentages of facially plain to unattractive men many with behavioral issues that pragmatically cannot attract desirable women in normal ways.

Thailand has a thriving sex trade, so that's where people go for 'love'. Of course the women there in the sex trade are out for money, that's what it's all about. Men that want that young, sexy mail-order bride get exactly what they paid for.

Yes, they do, and then it always comes as a shock to them and they whine about "gold diggers". They got what they paid for.

An Australian artist by the name of Len Hend, I have taken his free art courses online, bless him. Anyways, he seems to divide his time with his wife in Thailand and in Australia. I think he freely posts that he supports his wife and family. Seems to be quite happy.

It's bigger than this though. Both Japan and South Korea have become far more inviting to immigration. Not much choice in the face of demographic collapse and population aging. Once there you have to stay and make a contribution to society, which leads more guys to marry and settle there too.

How many old men in the US have wives from the US or "mail order brides" from European countries that are almost 30 years their junior? I can think of quite a few. Why the double standard?
