Good morning, boys and girls. Happy Sunday. It's gonna be another nice day here, not too warm so the a/c won't need to be on

A few little garden chores to do this morning, then DD and I plan to...wait for it...clean the garage. Yup. That's the plan, or at least it was the plan yesterday. Our trash pickup is on Monday so the idea is that if we clean it out today we can add stuff to our contribution to the trash. Right?

lol..I did stop to get some shopping on the way back.

I'm really disappointed, but it;s a No... it stunk of Damp.. I couldn't see any damp, but the whole apartment block inside stunk of damp. I mentioned it to him and he said oh it's probably the carpets in the hallways they get cleaned every once in a while ... and I thought , this is no way the smell of grubby carpet... ..plus it's really dark in there, it's like being in a basement flat.. the livingroom French windows are overlooked by huge trees, so no sun gets in... and my house is sunny from morning until night, I couldn't cope with no sun in the house..... and even more , there was a HUGE metal duct pipe about 15 inches in diameter going across the ceiling in the main bedroom...

It had great storage that was one good thing... but the Smell.. the dark... Not for me.. Shame..cuz I liked the area...

The smell was so bad, that I had to have my car windows open all the way home to try and get it off my clothes.. and even when I came indoors I could still smell it and had to throw my clothes in the washer...
That sounds awful!! It sounds like there’s mold in the building.

Very overcast today... just seen a warning about Monsoon type rain coming to the uk this week.. didn't click on the article so it might not be this part of the uk... 58 deg now at 2pm....

Gonna do very little today.. just give my back a rest after yesterday's Ottoman construction and the clearing of the spare room into storage...

I kept saying as I was being shown the different area in the corridors..like the storage cupboards, the bin area ( which was very clean )... where is the smell coming from ?.. they didn't seem to notice it... and I was like this really smells like damp, yet there was no obvious sign of it anywhere, and I couldn't smell it in the flat.. but it was really strong in the communal corridors..

I slept in, and have gotten a very late start to the day. I'm first sitting down for my morning cuppa.

Goober was excited to go for his walk this morning! When we got back, he patiently waited on "his stump" in the Fairy Garden, until I was ready to feed him.......

The picture makes it look like it was still dark outside, but actually it was full daylight.

I'm not sure what mischief I'll be getting into today....there are no shortage of choices!

I'm hungry! Good day to everyone! Off I go.....

Hi all folks!! Been up forever....it is 68F here, heading near 80 later on, no rain again...getting very dry....still an aches and pain
day for me, but what else is new...think I had an episode of the
gout in my right foot yesterday, painfull as hell....but better now
after cream, shock therapy, and heating pad....ah well....gotta get used to my new wheels, guess I'm resisting the idea of using them for normal every day, but thats exactly what I must
do in order to prevent some of my falls...see several new folks
coming on board, glad to have them....catch u later!!!! :giggle:  ;)

9:16am PDT Sunday and am going through web searching on various acts for this last day at the 3-day free outdoor Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. Huge crowd with large numbers of A to Z people and families, especially lots of twenty-somethings and teens. Given the heat, a lot of lovely young women to look at. Endless happy dogs and little kids too.

Yesterday was 97F where I live about San Jose and was supposed to be only 79 at the festival. However as I drove into the city at 11am, it was already 85F everywhere and still warming. Today sunny again is now forecast to be slightly less warm. So one of the warmest days in San Francisco this year but still not as hot as other nearby cities. At mid day sought out the limited crowded shady zones but by 3pm some high clouds helped dim the bright sun and direct heat.

Enjoyed a bunch of music but was never able to get close enough to any stages to actually watch musicians due to the vast crowds of about 250,000 on Saturday over the 6 stages. Thus was content to mostly listen and sometimes freestyle dance with others out in open green grassy areas.

After last year's event, I came down with COVID-19 for the first time after being one of the few that had remained virus free so long. Did not know how I managed to contact the disease but I believe I have that figured out now. There is a main area with about a half dozen large water tanks each with 8 spigots using small round white buttons one pushes with a finger. Lots of people continually filling water bottles, using their cupped hands to drink, and splashing water on their face and elsewhere. So am speculating virus may be passed by touching the white buttons then touching one's mouth or nose.

Thus am a bit afraid I may have given myself the virus yesterday before I realized this danger. Today will always wash my hands after touching the buttons. Will also provide a message on the event webpage feedback page for organizers to provide signage warning people of that and touching other common touching items like port-a-potty handles.

Exhausted! DD and I started on the garage. We cleaned half of it. The other half is going to wait until we recover. There was no time to be bored today for sure.

We're resting at the moment, then going to take a lot of stuff to Goodwill.

There was stuff in there that had been on the shelves for 15 years. There was stuff in there that had been on the shelves since 2002, when DD/DSIL bought the house. Stuff that hadn't been needed. Obviously time to get rid of it.

DSIL is treating us to dinner. DD is going to order online so that we can pick it up on our way back from Goodwill.

Lucky that I didn’t get flattened by a big SUV turning right. I always do a left shoulder check before proceeding. I was wearing a bright red hat and coat otherwise I don’t think he would have seen me. He was in the middle of the crosswalk where I would have been when he slammed on his brakes. I gestured for him to proceed. The thing that bothered me about all this is that he shock his head and glowered at me.

Today I’m busy prepping for luncheon guests tomorrow. I make too much. At least the pumpkin cheesecake is made. When looking at the recipe, I realized I’ve made it wrong the couple of other times I made it. Previously I had used a whole can of pumpkin which is the double the amount called for.

That's probably remnants of Helene?

We are off to see this brilliant performer on the 19th, he is such a talent.
His musical choice is from the Swing Era. We have an hour's drive to see
him, but it promises to be a good night. My wife managed to buy two
of the last few tickets remaining. The website is now showing sold out.

While my daughter's family is to Disneyland overnight, I am babysitting my grandson's Beagle puppy. Turning 2 years this month, "Zero" (my grandson gave her this name after his favorite cartoon character) has become so calm that I can bear having four dogs sleeping with me tonight for the first time ever. Up to now, Zero created such a commotion that my nerves just wouldn't take it for more than a few hours. But now the four pups barely take notice of each other. They all have grown older and wiser.

Left: Beagle "Zero" has limited access to the house, so she was waiting in front of the barrier for her family to return but eventually gave up.
Right: My dogs are so well behaving (yes, I am getting compliments when walking on streets) that I forgot how to handle Zero.

The spoiled brat on top of my bed, two under my bed, and the big guy cooling off on tiles (my pups are also spoiled but well behaving.)
BTW, as long as my wife is still working full-time, I am sleeping in a former kid's room. "My bed" is part of a former 2-level bunk bed. On top the bed and underneath a chair and a writing table with 2 chest of drawers. In the early 1980's it costs $700 each for 2 kids..

Left: the 4 pups barely take notice of each other (a year ago, they turned the room upside down.)
Right: my daughter warned me that Zero would not let me sleep unless she can cuddle up by my feet next to my Boxer blanket.

While you guys are talking about rain and bad weather, I haven't see rain for ages and this week it's again around 100 degrees in the shade.

yep that's precisely how most people get covid, by touching already infected items, like Shopping trolleys , public door handles etc.. which is why at the height of the pandemic we were all wearing disposable gloves and kept santising spray in our cars so we didn't transfer it to the steering wheel.. Hope you don't feel too bad with the covid, and it leaves you quickly...

I hope you didn't contract the virus and dampen by your fun time. Maybe take some Vitamins?

15 years! I can double that! Goodwill will probably tell me my stuff is too outdated!

Family dinner was nice. DS, oldest daughter and her SO were here. My son came early and helped DH with some heavy chores and......
yesterday we discovered an almost completely decomposed fox in the back of our yard! They scooped it with shovels onto plastic then wrapped it up to dispose of at dump. They used gloves and didn't touch it.
Now, how did it get there? We've been in the yard but didn't notice or smell it. I did see a buzzard in the yard a couple days ago. It flew up when I went out. I thought it was a hawk getting a mouse but it went up on a perch and you could see it was a buzzard.
It was so far decomposed we think something dragged it there.
Between it and these spiders around I'm feeling rather Halloweenish! 😾🕷🎃🏚

Exhausted, I really shouldn't have read your post. We are preparing our house for sale, once done we have thirty years of life to sort out, it's a big house that we have. When we bought it we were never going to get old, now we need a bungalow, the stairs have become a challenge.

Had a good couple of days. Got into the dock friday for blood and med replacements. Should here results first of the week. The only one I worry about is the dreaded A1C. She also decided it would be best for me to take a sleeping pill everynight Yahoo! I think that is why I have felt better, getting some decent deep sleep for a change.

I had done a big cookup a few days ago and it is time to do it again. Will run to the store later for some more green onions and grapes. I usually put the ends in a little water to grow again and forgot to do it. I have put on a pot of soup beans, I have everything for homemade mac and cheese, pork chops in the freezer. It is so called fall, even though the temps are high I think it is legal to make a pumpkin pie.

Hope you are well and happy as you can be despite our aches and pains!

Glad you had a nice dinner, HL. Too bad about the fox, 'tho.
