Apartment Invasion This Morning

I think closing your bedroom door when you live alone is weird. That's all I have to say on the matter.
And most of the time l keep my door locked as well. So if some intruder fools around with my door knob l'll have time to pick up the bat from under my bed. Sure beats waking up with a strange body on top of you. Fine, send me to the loony bin if it makes you feel better,

Good advice if you live in a house.

In apartment building fire alarm warns you and the whole building immediately but if you cannot get out in time due to mobility or other problems then close your door and hope for the best.
yep...but the flaw in that argument is if the fire started in YOUR apartment...

Then, as I said ...close the bedroom door if you cannot reach main door .

The fire alarm is right there in the apartment so it would go off very quickly.
Once it is set off the whole building will hear it.
They are tested once a month so I have no qualms about leaving my bedroom door open.

I think we’re having some confusion. Pepper was talking about closing the bedroom door while living alone. You don’t live alone; you have a housemate. I’d have my door closed too.

Apartment or house, I’d have several smoke alarms.

I'm not fine with telling my whole life on a message board. I've done enough of that already.

Living in a house is different than many apartments and condos with inside hallways. Your own smoke detector lets you know if the fire is in your area and the hallway detector if it’s outside your apartment.

You definitely want to be able to hear both and want to get out your only exit quickly. I left the slider between my balcony and condo even though it’s enclosed so I could go there if I couldn’t get out. I had thought about getting a rope ladder for the balcony.

I hope the apartment dwellers are reading your post. It's a scary thing.

No, I never did. I asked about the films and of course the answer was negitive for someone at the door. I asked for the lock to be changed or a new one added and nope, it's 'against the rules'. The woman who rented this place before me has passed and I just assume she turned in her key before she moved.

Nothing else has happened unless I slept through it.
