Is it peaceful around American polling stations?

I did a mail in ballot a week or so ago. I did not go by any voting places today. All seemed quiet in general, but it looked like our local water tower had water pouring out of it which gave me pause.

We are very rural with a rural water district. A lot of people have their own wells, including me.

I just got back from voting. It was very calm, only a handful of people. North Dakota is a solidly red state—with a whopping 3 electoral votes—so I wasn't expecting any excitement. Sometimes, boring is good.

In 1960 on election day, then VP Richard Nixon ditched the Press by switching cars. His wife returned to LA in the black limo while he drove to Tijuana in a convertible with three other guys. They had lunch at a small resteraunt. He called the mayor of Tijuana and invited him to join the lunch group. On the way back to LA they stopped for milkshakes at a small eatery.
Can you imagine doing that today?

Here? Bomb threats. In-your-face confrontations with poll workers, even one where a would-be voter challenged a poll worker with a machete during early voting last week. Precincts in some counties, mine included, have extended voting hours to make up for having to evacuate their polling places while threats were investigated.

I read that in Tennessee, there was a nut case yesterday who planned to bomb an electrical grid (via drone) to keep the vote from happening at all.

If my candidate doesn't win, I will never, ever vote again.
I was born in France, and should I outlive my husband, I may return there.

Not me. I’ll just keep voting for the best candidate and hope the rest of the population finally open their eyes and the other branches of government develope some integrity. If I’d been born elsewhere I might do as you say you would. But I feel a sense of responsibility for what happens here. Hard to see how the population will become more worthy but I hope they do.

Pleasant Ridge, rural voting station where I voted today, was quite peaceful :)

Ohio used to be swing state but is mainly red now. I voted at a big church's fellowship hall, the atmosphere was downright loving, one old guy kept beaming at me, I think we might have made a connection, but that's all because everyone in the building assumed we were all Republicans. If the truth came out, I fear my new boyfriend might have thrown me over.

We ended up having at least seven bomb threats on polling places before the end yesterday. Today the press is spinning this to blame Russia, though at least one story that I followed to the end originated on the Ann Arbor campus and they got the guy.

Now that the results are official, I predict the following....The Canadian Immigration application computer system will crash due to being overloaded with new enquiries. The Canadian Border Security Agency will have to decide if the new President should be admitted to Canada, or not, based on his being a convicted felon. The stock markets will shiver, and the value of the US Dollar will go lower. Canadians are shaking their heads this morning. JIM.

Can you please post a link documenting your statement about Trump's conviction? Thank you.

Our voting was in the community hall in a small town 30 miles from home.
Nice and peaceful, folks seemed happy and friendly.
We got right in, and a small line of 3 or 4 people formed behind us.
3 little old ladies were handling the whole show.
One checked the addresses and photo ID, another put the name m the ballot and the third explained making sure the entire circle was filled in, which way to put it back in the sleeve, etc.
There were cookies, cake and other homemade goodies.
A lot of Nebraska counties are going "mail-in" only, but I'm glad we can still vote in person.

I dug deeper and recovered the newspaper site articles about election threats.

I found that one lefty had made direct threats against Trump and polling places, claiming he had a stolen AR-15. One cranky old guy was complaining about Harris robocalls and only made veiled threats against "call centers." They got the Ann Arbor bum, the old crank had been known to the FBI for months.

Both were charged with making threatening communications.

The "Russian threats" seem to be phantoms.
