$1.36 per liter would be (per ChatGPT)-
U.S. gallon: $5.14
Imperial gallon: $6.18
That's a lot, I think here in the states only California is paying that much. Either way, it's way too much considering the multi billion dollar profits the oil companies are enjoying.
I paid $3.99/gallon at a Los Angeles Costco last week. Using my Costco CC to pay, I'll get back 4%, so a net of $3.83/gallon.

This afternoon I was required for Grandad Duties with our youngest daughter being on her own with Likkle Grandson (3.5) and Likkle Grandaughter (9 weeks). I had a great time keeping him entertained. I was a bridge. I was Godzilla. I was Major Clanger. I was 'Nap Trapped' with the baby while his Mummy sterilised bottles and changed a nappy. I was the reader of books. I was GRANDAD!

you really have no idea how lucky you are with fuel so cheap....(y)
On several occasions, on other forums, when folks were blaming the government for high gas prices, I mentioned how much people are paying in Canada and Europe and that we have it good here. Unfortunately, sometimes good news falls on deaf ears if it doesn't match one's preconceived ideas.

The Monrach Butterfly is the same (?) that I caught coming out of the pupa stage. And a few more pix from my morning walk.

"California is home to some of the highest gas prices in the United States, according to AAA. The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.40 as of Thursday, according to the organization's data. In California, the average was $4.87, more than any other state."

you're absolutely right, I've noticed this on many occasions...

@packleader, our oranges are also ripening, as are our lemons. Your birds of paradise are GORGEOUS!!!

Happy to say, yesterday I finished everything on my to-do list. Have to do some billing today. Also making up sugar cookie dough and will help DH with interior Christmas decorating. We finished the outside yesterday.

December 4th? Only 3 weeks until Christmas!

Just received a sad text message from a brother J that lives about 100 miles distant. Another brother JJ that lives with him had some kind of catastrophic intestinal bleeding today and is now in a hospital ER.

Both my beloved parents, a younger beloved sister (very religious, pneumonia during pandemic) and another brother (drug use) have passed into eternity. I have 4 remaining younger brothers with 2 of them suffering from serious kidney and more issues due to years of alcohol drinking, even now, after decades of other abusive drug use. J is in moderate health and another brother S regularly abuses himself with alcohol even though he has been warned not to.

None of them are religious so when they are gone, it is their certain end. I would pray now for JJ but wonder praying about for what reason? That he might live another day to walk down to his nearby convenience store for a case of beer? Or pray that his life he apparently doesn't value end peacefully without pain? Many of we seniors are increasingly facing similar issues in our mortal lives.

You can only lead the horse to water and you have done plenty of leading. Live your life according to your values and priorities.

Went to the store to pick up a few things; making a meatless pasta sauce now. Planning to make a small batch of baked rigatoni and some chicken parmigiana tomorrow. Invited the new neighbor.

Bought more peanuts, bird food and some shelled walnut meats for my squirrels for Christmas.

It's gotten quite cloudy, Snow predicted for tonight but not more than an inch, if that.

It may seem cheap to you but you have to consider distances here.
fair enough but the average person doesn't travel great distances on a daily basis..anymore than they do here..and remember also that traffic congestion here means that the vast majority of commuters driving on our roads take much longer to get to anywhere than they do in the US or Canada..for example it's very common for it to take up to 3 hours some days to cover just 20 miles through london..or from the home counties that surround London, to get into the city for work. That's 3 hours worth of very expensive fuel being used .on a daily basis

Believe me, I don’t take that price for granted.

Gas prices in my area are notorious for changing faster than I can get thru a Walmart line. by Christmas prices will likely go up 20 or so cents - and have a “reasonable” explanation to go with the increase.🙄🙄
ours do the same , every week the prices change... during Covid we were paying over £1.50 per LITRE

Oh that's tragic David, I'm so sorry that firstly, your brothers have succumbed to alcohol and drug issues ...and that one brother is now seriously ill. I wish him a recovery but as you say to what end ?..If he doesn't take this as a serious warning, then there's no saving him.. and little point in saving him now, ..and it may be better for him and everyone in the family for him just to be gone from his demons and the world.
So sad....
