Got out to the dentist, new it would be bad but it was worse. Need a lot of fillings, a partial bridge because looks like I will lose two teeth. I was expecting one removal but not two. All said and done, about 9K but it has to be done. Will split it up over 3 visits. Start on the bottom and then do the top, later after I heal, insert the bridge. Glad I love my dentist. And yes, it is my fault for not going on the regular.

Stopped to drop off a script for antibiotics and got my covid booster at the same time. Ran to the store for some lean ground beef patties for the freezer.

I should feel bad but I am relieved to have got started getting some things done. Procrastination never is a good thing and I seem to be a professional,

Good that you're taking care of yourself, blessed. 🌹

A couple of my planned projects for this year will get pushed to next year. I always set my goals too high.
My latest project is a red light therapy booth. The earthing mats are helping with aches and pains, most notably with her arthritis, but 20 minutes of daily meditation, flooded with red light from therapy bulbs can't hurt.
I haven't finished the outside yet in case I want to add more lights.

How is that coming along? I just ordered red light therapy. I've heard so many good things about it.

One rug done and half the grout between the tiles cleaned. The other rug and other half of the grout tomorrow. Dang! It was more work than I thought it would be.

Maggiecat thought it would be fun to lie down near me and try to play with the fishing line while I was mending the rug. It might have been fun for her, but it wasn't fun for me. Darned kitty😸

Old people get tired. I'm done doing stuff until tomorrow.

I am trying but as many of us know, it is not always is easy. I know that for the most part I have been blessed. I have a home, the means to provide for myself. I read here some of the things others deal with and wonder how they have the strength, so many to admire, so many to teach us to be thankful for the things we do have.

Had a nice supper and visit from my new neighbor next door last night. She's very nice; also retired.

Today was a non-"achievement" day. Hung around here at the Forum, ran the dishwasher, did a bit of straightening, fed my critters and swept the deck. So lazy today, but the house is in good shape, so not much to do.

It's too cold to go anywhere! 🥶

My bar for getting things done is a lot lower than most of yours. While being out of commission for a week everything went to pot. Today I had to have funds rushed to my overdrawn bank account and make a hasty decision on Medicare for 2025.

I also got groceries delivered from Walmart for the first time. I have used their pick-up service before but my car is still in the shop. I got some apples to make something yummy since I missed apple pie (and everything else) on Thanksgiving.

Went to the grocery story this morning and noticed this Tesla Cybertruck. Looks like itt belongs in a MadMax movie rather than a grocery store parking lot. Not to my taste in vehicles!

Bet you can't get a replacement wiper blade for that giant wiper down at the local auto parts store!

9K?????? whaaaat?...why ?

dental care is very expensive here, just the bridge is 5200, 2 extractions and a lot of fillings, Adds up real quick. It was pretty right on the money, I thought it would be 10K or more.
Unbelievable..now wonder Dentists are some of the richest people in the US...

How much will I pay for NHS dental treatment?

It's been cold and windy for three days now. The weekly old people hiking group had significantly fewer attendees today, all of us bundled up against the cold. The woods were a typical winter un-beautiful. I'm so glad I am in the club, it is so much easier to get out and walk when there are other people.

Some people, like me, feel a need of taking care of something after the kids have left the nest. After my wife has retired from her demanding teaching work, we'll spend more time doing some activities. But in the meantime, my three Boxer pups are my world. They surely keep me on my toes. They are all adopted as strays from shelters because at my age, I can't handle little puppies anymore. I found them all at www.24petconnect.com that is indexing the holdings of dozens of public and private shelters in Southern California. --- The pups unconditional love gives me strength to carry on.

I fell asleep last night before I could post about yesterday I accomplished something I'd been procrastinating about for several weeks. I got about half of the shredding done. I also had to pull out some pots and items below my sink because I discovered a leak when I noticed moisture around a big pot I never use.

The pots are on a sliding drawer that unless pulled out, hides the spot where the leak is occurring. Neither my son nor I could figure out where it’s coming from, but part of the area beneath my pull out pot drawer is quite damp. I made two sautee pans of my new favorite thing, imitation crab meat and broccoli stir fried in butter. I also made quick Basmati rice in a pouch in the microwave to have with it. Froze part of the combo...my homemade "TV dinner".

Today I did some financial stuff, including accounting and adding more $$ to my fireproof box and other more easily accessible hiding places. I also transferred the latest information saved on my Western Digital external drive to my newer SSD drive before putting the latter into the fireproof box.

This morning I emailed Renee, the managing agent about the leak but when I didn’t get a response by mid afternoon, I called. She was working on it and within an hour, sent a contractor to check it out. He saw that the hose from my faucet. which was damaged, was the source. I also had him check the drip of my bathtub faucet. He seems to think that will be a fairly easy fix as well; just need new parts or a new faucet. So glad these issues aren't anything necessitating going into the walls ! He said he’d consult with Renee about how to proceed. Hopefully I’ll be notified by Monday, about the next steps.

An open public prayer to God and Lord Jesus for my brother as tears flow.

Almighty God and Father and beloved Lord Jesus, my youngest brother JJ is near his death. My heart is saddened. He is part of love within me. I know not what you can do but know your ways are wise and just.

My dear father greatly loved JJ when he was born like he did all of his young children that created loving inner beings in all of us. And father a product of WWII, provided and guided us with love in those difficult times. So if my father is up there with you, I know your spiritual heart must be crying now and Jesus can see it. Thank you Dad for bringing us into the world within the path of God's son Jesus, not an easy way few have followed.

And my beloved mother loved all of us so dearly with JJ her last. Yes mother, I know your spiritual heart must be broken again as is the curse of mortal organic life. An ending in my heart I realize only God and Jesus with the Holy Spirit have power to change. We must die to be reborn spiritually. I'm deeply sorry Mom, that my own influences by example when younger during war times contributed to their addictive demise and separation.

And am sorry as you wished mother that I tasked so, have not been able to save them as you so dearly hoped for. I have not know what to do or say to those who feel lost, hopeless. I know not the extent of God's great power's but know he dearly loves you that followed his path to their mortal ends and can do as He wishes.

And loving sister D I know you are spiritually with mother too. Please console her and father.

May JJ Rest In Peace.

your loving brother David
You have my deepest sympathy David! What a lovely tribute. May your brother R.I.P. and may happy memories of him comfort you.

Good morning
Very windy out there.🌬️Red weather warning for wind( threat to life!)
Can hear stuff being blown around.
All outdoor sporting fixtures in Wales cancelled -not sure that has ever happened except during snow.
So another rugby less Saturday for me.
Not sure if buses will be running…already know they going to avoid central Cardiff.
Many trains cancelled.
And I know it’s worse down on the coast and further west.
So a day watching various snow and ice sports on TV for me.

🌧️☔
And it should all pass by about 11a.m here.
