What have you bought recently?

Depends how many similar coats are hanging in your closet.
None.. I had a jacket in the same colour and with the fur collar, but I just recently donated that because it's now too small for me..

I don't have any dress coats aside from one knee length one now , no fur collar...

How often will you wear it, Hols? Will it need regular dry cleaning? It's a lovely coat!
Well, that's the thing Pinks.. currently I don't go many places any more... maybe one or 2 nice places a year, so that's all I'd wear it. yes it would need dry cleaning, but I look after my clothes very well.. and I haven't had to have anything dry cleaned in many years.. so that wouldn't be a concern to me..:D

It's really a bargain ..and I do want a dress coat.. and further to that I really like it.. and for the price I think I'll have got a great buy even if it only lasts me 5 years, and the lielihood is it will last much longer..

I've bought it now..it was in the sale, so I couldn't really hang on too long..all the other sizes were already sold out...

BTW it was only £60

@hollydolly
Wear it in good health, Hols .. enjoy what you can, while you can, is what I say :)

Just order the below 4 items this morning 12/7/2024 for $116.99. Tired of awkwardly using a plastic container so am buying a real glass salad mixing bowl at 4.5 quarts. Have bought the same thermal polyester heavyweight mid layers before so know the fit and wear is good. Over the last decade have lost several tiny voice recorders that inevitably eventually fall out of pockets. So this is yet another replacement. Useful for recording thoughts.

I used to have a black leather coat like that, it was down to my ankles... of all the coats I ever owned that one was my favourite...
I still have one! A rich rusty brown, Italian leather. At one time I did think of having it shortened but, the cut is so nice that I think it might spoil it. I am seeing more of this style now and really like them so, maybe my coat is finally back in vogue :)

I hope it is coming back...I'd go and get another one in a heartbeat. ..but a long one as I had before not knee length ...

The last time I had a sort out, I thought about having it shortened but then tried it on and decided to keep it as it is. Those sort of coats look nice with most things, looks good with jeans. Lovely colour too.

I like the coat you ordered. Is the collar detachable?

yes it is.. which swayed it for me.. because altho' I will wear it with collar attached, I won't always want it on.....

It's been a miserable weather sort of day so, I didn't bother to go out at all. I ordered a couple of things, nothing exciting; shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste, that sort of thing. I have a very busy week next week so won't want to bother going shopping for things I can just order online.

On Tuesday I will be spending money at the hairdresser before the Christmas events begin. :)

Maybe you could wear it for the Christmas lunch with your daughter. The collar looks nice and dressy and, with the option of removing it, it would probably look more casual for daywear. I think it would make a nice Spring coat for days when it is still a bit chilly but bright.

When I bought 5 dozen eggs at Costco on November 29th, they cost $12.49. Went to Costco Business Center this past week and they were wiped out of the 2 dozen and 5 dozen eggs, but had cases of 15 dozen. Also jumbo, cage free eggs (40 eggs for that came out to $6.75/dozen. Hard pass.

DS was going to Costco yesterday anyway, so I asked him to see if they had 5 dozen egg case. Yes: $15.49/case, so $3.10/doz. Asked him to grab a case for me. (y) These should get me through the rest of my baking and Christmas holidays. 🤞

He told me the guy behind him in the checkout lane had FIFTY egg cartons of 5 dozen each on his flat. I wonder if Costco will start limiting egg sales...

Walmarting this morning for really exciting stuff: sauerkraut, baby aspirin, gallon jug of water, butter, pkg of 3 oz bathroom cups, Dove chocolate. Yawn. At $9+ for Dove (got two 14oz pkgs), my pocketbook is now $28 lighter.

I'd rather have bought something fun, like @hollydolly's new coat, but what would I do with it down here?

Yesterday at a craft fair I bought a balaclava type crocheted hat. Do I like it? No. I don’t like the aesthetics of any of my hats. They have to serve the purpose of keeping me warm and/or the sun or rain off of my glasses. This one will do that, even though the colours aren’t my favourite and even though it’s well made, I don’t care for the home crafted look. My $25 hat will make me happy when it fulfills all its purposes, and I know it will.

Another vendor did some absolutely beautiful crocheted neck or yoke pieces. The prices reflected the quality and time that went into them. There‘re just not something I’d need.

There’s something for everyone at these fairs. I also bought some local garlic.

I was obliged to buy, and have installed, a new hot water heater.
I chose a new electric system with heat pump technology. 450L capacity and it is excellent.

Installation costs were high. They came the same day that the old system failed, quoted and set to work immediately after I accepted the quote.

First the old unit was disconnected and the new unit installed in its place - in the fernery, on a concrete plinth.

One look at the old fuse box, ceramic fuse system, circa 1966, and I was advised that a new power board was necessary. This was not news to me; my electrician grandson has been telling me this for some time.

After the first day I had hot water restored and all rubbish plus the old unit had been taken away. The following day the electrical work to replace the old power board was completed.

I am very pleased with the new system and I have named it Evan because I like that name. In full, it is named Evan the Mighty.

I was very impressed by the work ethic of the three young men who came to my aid.

Money well spent IMO.

We had a huge, pre-Christmas provision shop yesterday. When it comes to security I never use a card, cash is anonymous. What I must have looked like at the self-payment till, feeding it with twenty pound notes.
Today the damage to our wealth continued. We now have a new door bell. it has twenty-five different ring tunes to choose from. Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld's 'Galop infernal' was very tempting. It's more commonly known as The Cancan.

In our early years of ballroom dancing, there were a couple of ladies who, as well as Latin & Ballroom, danced the cancan, they were members of a troupe, and as they said, it keeps you fit. Tell me about it, we went along to a rehearsal, they don't just high kick, they stand on one leg, in heels and rotate the foot of the other leg, face high.

Boy dog, Mason, got two new Elk antler chews today
Raining and Mason is in his safe spot
When he wakes and finds the chews, it will be like Christmas morning :)
And I got a new phone ...
Gonna need jeans with bigger pockets I guess

Eggs in Costco UK are far more expensive than they are in the regular supermarkets
