Youtube video too long to up-load

Early this morning I made a special trip at 4.30am to record birdsong for Kaila whom is in hospital.
After 1 hour and 30 minutes uploading I receive this message - "Upload abandoned, video too long"
Hmmm, seems I have to verify my youtube account before I can upload videos longer that 15 minutes.
So, verification done, I will start the process again.
Another 1 hour and 17 minutes to go.

I recorded the video through my normal camera then uploaded it onto my laptop. From there onto youtube.
1 hour until upload complete.

Couple things. Firstly, I don't know what resolution you filmed at, but you have to take into account the screen people viewing it will have. It's possible that recording at a lower resolution would be more than adequate for your purpose. Lower resolution means smaller files.

And while I'm on the subject, the codex used makes a big difference too. Try a different codex to see if the uploads go faster. Youtube gives the impression of being a simple upload, but in reality it's also encoding your files. Some codex and faster than others.

Thanks, for sharing this video of the birds chirping, singing, and squabbling! How many birds do you suppose you captured in this video singing? I heard about a dozen or so different sounds.

Many birds have a wide variety of different calls.
Willy Wagtail, Wattle Bird, Western Silvereye, New Holland Honey Eater, Dusky Moorhen, Pacific Black Duck, Yellow Spotted Honey Eater are some of the birds I saw.

I uploaded a 2 1/2 minute video which took about 2 1/2 minutes.
