Who on earth is Taylor Swift?

Well, she has 400 million followers, has sold 114 million records, has won 11 Grammys, and countless other awards.

People say, 'I don't know her, don't know any of her songs'. That's fine. Not everyone is up to date on what is currently popular.

But the ones who say she's boring, or has no talent, just stop it. A more accurate statement would be "I just don't hear it." Which is also fine. But don't dismiss her accomplishments. Obviously, she's doing something that appeals to the masses.

Her career has now spanned two generations. All those 13 year olds that loved her first album 18-20 years ago, are now in their late 20s and early 30s, and are not only still fans, but so are their kids, who had been raised on Taylor Swift.

That's not anything new. How many of you out there can honestly say your musical tastes weren't, at least partially, formed by what your parents listened to? I know I wouldn't have my love of Motown if I hadn't spent so many hours listening to my mom's collection growing up. I also probably would never even heard of John Denver.

I know a bunch of her songs (not by title, mind you), simply because my daughter, who is now 30, was an original Swiftie. When I was coaching softball, I can't tell you how many hours I logged driving a van full of original Swifties, all singing at top volume, horribly off key, to her songs. Ditto Justin Beiber.

Anyhow, my own personal opinion of Taylor Swift? To my musical ear, she's ok. Just kind of benign to my musical tastes. She doesn't irritate me, but she doesn't pump me up, either.
My daughter is nearing 60 and is a big TS fan. Also my niece, who is in her 50s.

I just read her tour has now come to an end, and there were $2bn in ticket sales. Now, I have no time for her or her music, but that - it seems - makes me part of the minority.

She appears to be a lovely young lady who is very involved with those who love her --fans--and in her case I do not hold being Uber Rich against her. While not knowing her songs off the top of my head, whenever I see her perform I really like her. Just doesn't stick.

Taylor Swift is one step above poverty or not.

How much money did Taylor Swift make from ‘The Eras Tour’?
But what about Taylor? OK, don’t worry, we’re here now. Forbes reports that at each stop on ‘The Eras Tour’, “Swift personally earned between $10 million and $13 million”. That’s every night.

As far as the whole tour goes, Peter Cohan, an associate professor of management at Babson College, was quoted by The Washington Post saying that Swift stands to make as much as $4.1 billion from her work.

I'm just not into corn-tree music I guess.
I never heard of "corn-tree music" but I know that everything about Taylor Swift is "super-hype." Lots of people making huge piles of money of her. Here is Canada some "Swifties" are spending $3,000 to fly, stay in expensive hotel and see the concert. In 10 years they will be trying to figure out why they were so stupid. No wonder the consumer debt in Canada is the highest of all the G7 countries. Some folks ain't got no brains!

4.1 billion from her work? WOW! Makes me think that maybe Elon Musk isn't such a bad guy after all?

When I read our local paper I see all those people asking for donations. I read about the homeless and the recent high prices for groceris, I wonder what people do with 4.1 billion? That is quite a "pile of dough!"

Terrible human being screeching songs that all sound the same ........
Ain't that the truth! Just watch those "Got Talent" auditions. "I'm gonna' sing a song by ... whoever" and rather than sing the song/lyrics in their own voice all they do is try to imitate "whoever". ie. they "all sound the same".

Not sure about Elon Musk, but any man with that kind of money - I can find SOMETHING about him I like! LOL. Actually his brain is what I like considering...intelligence is so VERY alluring. More so than any amount of money can buy.

I honestly don't know. Am I unusual in that not only do I not know but I don't really want to know!
Gone are the days when I had interest and good knowledge of pop music of the day. Now I have not a clue. I admit I don't know anything to about Ed Sheeran either, except people seem to worship him.

Am I the only one and am I missing out on something?
My LAST days of listening to pop music of the day is when women started dressing like strippers. Why do these women think they have to be half naked to be considered talented. I end up getting distracted from the music trying to figure out how much razor trimming, and tape is holding everything in place is being done! ROFLOL

When will these women figure out that a class act attracts a bigger volume of loyal fans than skin? The audience lasts longer too.

I tried Twitter several years ago and didn't get the appeal. I'm not a "follower" of anyone or any company or cult, so it didn't interest me. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Same here. Have never been much of a follower, a groupie, or one to follow trends or what is popular.

March to my own drummer.
