Well, she has 400 million followers, has sold 114 million records, has won 11 Grammys, and countless other awards.
People say, 'I don't know her, don't know any of her songs'. That's fine. Not everyone is up to date on what is currently popular.
But the ones who say she's boring, or has no talent, just stop it. A more accurate statement would be "I just don't hear it." Which is also fine. But don't dismiss her accomplishments. Obviously, she's doing something that appeals to the masses.
Her career has now spanned two generations. All those 13 year olds that loved her first album 18-20 years ago, are now in their late 20s and early 30s, and are not only still fans, but so are their kids, who had been raised on Taylor Swift.
That's not anything new. How many of you out there can honestly say your musical tastes weren't, at least partially, formed by what your parents listened to? I know I wouldn't have my love of Motown if I hadn't spent so many hours listening to my mom's collection growing up. I also probably would never even heard of John Denver.
I know a bunch of her songs (not by title, mind you), simply because my daughter, who is now 30, was an original Swiftie. When I was coaching softball, I can't tell you how many hours I logged driving a van full of original Swifties, all singing at top volume, horribly off key, to her songs. Ditto Justin Beiber.
Anyhow, my own personal opinion of Taylor Swift? To my musical ear, she's ok. Just kind of benign to my musical tastes. She doesn't irritate me, but she doesn't pump me up, either.
