Who on earth is Taylor Swift?

I'm not sure I could name a Taylor Swift song. I do know that she's hard-working, good-looking, super-rich, emits positive vibes, puts on a heck of a show by all accounts, dates Travis Kelce, is incredibly supportive of her fanbase, stays out of trouble, and is very charitable.

I am good with all those things. It's my fault that I'm stuck in the past listening to old Allman Brothers songs.
Ditto!

Well, she has 400 million followers, has sold 114 million records, has won 11 Grammys, and countless other awards.

People say, 'I don't know her, don't know any of her songs'. That's fine. Not everyone is up to date on what is currently popular.

But the ones who say she's boring, or has no talent, just stop it. A more accurate statement would be "I just don't hear it." Which is also fine. But don't dismiss her accomplishments. Obviously, she's doing something that appeals to the masses.

Her career has now spanned two generations. All those 13 year olds that loved her first album 18-20 years ago, are now in their late 20s and early 30s, and are not only still fans, but so are their kids, who had been raised on Taylor Swift.

That's not anything new. How many of you out there can honestly say your musical tastes weren't, at least partially, formed by what your parents listened to? I know I wouldn't have my love of Motown if I hadn't spent so many hours listening to my mom's collection growing up. I also probably would never even heard of John Denver.

I know a bunch of her songs (not by title, mind you), simply because my daughter, who is now 30, was an original Swiftie. When I was coaching softball, I can't tell you how many hours I logged driving a van full of original Swifties, all singing at top volume, horribly off key, to her songs. Ditto Justin Beiber.

Anyhow, my own personal opinion of Taylor Swift? To my musical ear, she's ok. Just kind of benign to my musical tastes. She doesn't irritate me, but she doesn't pump me up, either.

As far as the people griping about her Kansas City Chiefs presence, she has zero control over that. She has no idea when the cameras are on her. That is 100% the NFL capitalizing on her name.

Besides, someone actually timed it, and her total camera time during the last Chiefs game? :49 seconds, over a 3+ hours broadcast.

Get a grip, people.

Heads Up to all of you baby boomer Swifties in the USA going north to Canada for the last of Ms. Swift’s recent concert tour. Canada has tough restrictions against people convicted of things like DUI and felonious activity. Despite paying a small fortune for the tickets you may be denied entry into the country. Think about that the next time you get high on illegal street drugs, or commit a felony. Darn baby boomers. The chickens have come home to roost. :)

So, by this reasoning, every band that came into existence after 6/6/71 (Ed's last broadcast), fails your pop music test.
I guess if you take what I said quite literally.

But my point was that I only listen to 60’s and 70’s oldies in contemporary secular music with some into the late 70’s. Otherwise, I listen to Christian music, specifically hymns done in a traditional or slightly contemporary style.

She's a very lucky young woman. Her talent is probably equal to any other popular singer/performer throughout the decades.
More than lucky. She's not only talented, but she's very kind, generous, socially conscientious and she's always been a hard worker. I heard her in an interview once and apparently when she was about 11, she decided that she wanted to be a singer/songwriter and proceeded to write music. Then she talked her mom into taking her to the offices of some big music production company where she marched in and asked a receptionist for an appointment with whomever was the guy in charge. Naturally, the receptionist blew her off (for the next few years because she repeated the visit annually).

Then when she was 14, they admired her persistence and finally took a look at and listened to her music AND they gave her a job! Her first job was writing music with that outfit's music team. So luck had very little to do with it, beyond being lucky enough to be born with talent and drive. The rest is all hard work.

Taylor Swift is not my musical cup of tea but I admire her greatly. She is smart, talented, kind, and respects her parents. She donates to the local foodbank in every city where she performs and is generous to all her staff. Her fans, and staff, adore her - she could rule the world! We watched the movie of her ERAs concert in L.A. California and I was fascinated by the logistics and overwhelming size of it all. She should be every little girl's aspiration. I wish her every success in the world and hope she is living her dream!

Taylor Swift has Millions of Trekkies who go to her Concerts and really adore her.
She pulled past the early Deals of her suffocating personal life most likely and is doing well.
Maybe she is ready to settle down with Travis but that's the point of it all isn't it!

I know she's a popular singer for young girls, but I've never actually heard her stuff and not really interested.
I used to play the song about Tim McGraw after work on my Accoustic, think she was 16 ish she broke in with Country Music and then moved on with her stuff to what she has been doing ever since, scratch a black guy off her list of problems.

She has so much money she can populate the island in the Caribbean with kids her heart accept, she loves.
Sure hope her and "Travis have it" Together!
