Ramaswamy says DOGE should have an 18 month lifespan.

Uh... maybe AI could at least learn how to paste someone's leg in the right place?
I hated AI. Then I started using it for fun stuff like recipe creation. Now I see all this ridiculous (and nauseating, like @Pepper said) garbage that has potential to cause some highly damaging things to happen... and I'm back to hating/fearing it.

I don't think the rule on politics here has changed just because some of you caught your tit in the wringer.
I thought that we were doing a pretty good job of sticking to discussing issues without discussing politics. 🤔

I’m confident that Matrix will rein us back in if he feels we are crossing the line.

I really dislike podcasts and podcasters. If it weren’t for politics, they wouldn’t be necessary. These podcasters have become millionaires telling the same stories day after day. Each one is the same, they just tell the same story differently. Joe Rogan, who is considered the King of podcasters, is the biggest and richest podcaster on the internet. Personally, I can’t stand him because I think he leaks too much information, which starts a lot of stories floating about on the internet.

We have no unbiased legacy news and podcasters help (not perfectly) fill that vaccum by long form discussion which makes it harder to hide ideological bias than edited and spun legacy media soundbites.

Podcasts are lot to sift through--both in volume of information and ideogical bias of podcasters and guests--but do offer one more source for those of us looking for facts instead of spin.

I read where Mr. Ramaswamy who will team up for Mr. Musk in the Department Of Goverment Efficiency wants that department to have an 18 month life, and then disappear, unless Congress votes to continue it. His feeling is that most programs and departments go on forever often past their useful life. So, leading by example, DOGE will be limited to 18 months and self-destruct. Also, he wants it to be advisory, and then put the burden on Congress to actually, change the laws to make things more efficient. IOW, less of these Executive Orders that bypass Congress's job and constitutional authority.
That sounds like $$$ Billions of dollars of Hog Fat Monies blown and nothing! Just hog fat guts.

AI just proved itself a game changer! Thanks to AI, we knew shortly after the ridiculously pork stuffed 1,500+ CR omnibus was released what was in it. Ramaswamy was one of the first to post a summary. Apparently AI isn't quite yet there on bill analysis -- should get to the point it can analyze just what pork belongs to what congressional member but what it did to kill this bloated bill is wonderful!

Musk conducted a successful coup against America. Change my mind.

Much more to do with AI. Musk couldn't have gotten far with his tweeted picture of the massive stack of paper (1,500 plus pages) in the bill the House was supposed to vote on with minimal time to read it ...no time for the average American to read it ...without the info out there on social media detailing what the bill contained via AI analysis. I have long wished for this information when these disgustingly bloated bills have been sprung at the last minute. Pork filled bills are one of the great embarrassments in the US government but it looks like (hope!!!) that we're seeing the end of it.

It was nice to see some oppose raising the debt ceiling for 2 years.

Edit to add:

"Republicans defy .........: A bill packaging spending measures with a two-year suspension of the debt cap failed on the floor on Thursday evening, when 38 Republicans balked at raising the nation’s borrowing limit. The right-wing lawmakers opposed the increase because it had no corresponding spending cuts. House Democrats refused to back the deal because it was stripped of provisions they supported as part of the original bipartisan deal and because raising the debt limit could smooth the path for [Elmo] and his allies to push through tax cuts and slash social safety net programs next year."

Spending bill passes US House hours before deadline, avoiding government shutdown

Here is a breakdown of how the vote on the House spending bill went down:
  • 196 Democrats voted to pass the bill
  • 170 Republicans voted to pass the bill
  • 34 Republicans rejected the bill
The debt ceiling was not raised despite Donald Trump’s demand for the cap to increase. The bill is now headed to the Senate, which has until midnight to pass the spending bill.

Now that Musk is dating Taylor Swift, with the billions of $$$ they have, they will gut social programs. (Fake news)

Does anybody see that her leg is going BACKWARDS on her body ? Anybody ? This is a perfect example of how messed up AI is when it does not have the information given to it about what something is or should look like.
Oh, and she only has one leg, which is kind of bad, too…..

I have so much fun with AI messing up stuff. It is always surprising what it comes up with. It is making these images by prompts using words. That's the challenge. Some people take hours making up prompts in great detail, and come up with some very impressive almost real looking stuff, but mostly there are people writing a few words like I did to create Musk and Taylor, and let the AI screw it up on purpose. It is supposed to be a mess, that is the point. AI can only be as responsive as those who are using it.

"“To take this bill, to take this bill yesterday, and congratulate yourself because it’s shorter in pages, but increases the debt by $5 trillion, is asinine,” Representative Chip Roy of Texas said on Thursday night in a scathing speech deriding the legislation carrying the debt limit increase. “I’m absolutely sickened by a party that campaigns on fiscal responsibility and has the temerity to go forward to the American people and say you think this is fiscally responsible.”"
