I thought that map was a frivolous thing, but now I see Ohio likes peanut butter cookies best and so does my Ohio born son. It's like discovering the wisdom of astrology!

I prefer my mother's oatmeal cookies made with molasses.

My husband prefers No Bake (chocolate-peanut butter) cookie, but I think that's because they're the most like candy. He's not a true cookiest like my son and I.

I buy Maple cookies from Canada. There is only one store in this area that sells them, but they are very good.

Shortbread with sprinkles

I LOVE shortbread cookies, and I'm really good at making them.

But me & the kids almost always left sugar cookies for Santa.

Occasionally, we left gingerbread cookies. I used my mom's recipe. She got it from an old Betty Crocker cookbook that she got as a wedding gift in 1948. It was new at the time, of course. These are soft gingerbread cookies made with lots of warm spices. They're awesomely yummy.
