@CinnamonSugar Safe travels. The weather ain't good, but up here at least only overcast and chilly. No rain yet.

Doc appt done with for another year. Kaiser says another six months. Pfffft. BP still in the "stellar" range at 119/80. Amazing what leaving Kroger has done for my BP! I gained 4 lbs since cardio visit three weeks ago. That probably means I over-ate in the Christmas goodies department. An inch shorter than last year. I drew the clock right and remembered the words. Guess that makes me a "stable genius" and eligible to be president.

Got my mega millions ticket(s). Just to be on the safe side, got two of them. I read online this morning that my astrological sign is one of five likely to win a lottery. Gonna use my winnings to zip on over to the UK to nurse @hollydolly through her surgery and to learn to drive on the wrong side of the road. And to take her trash bins to the curb.

Santa gave me a really nifty new winter jacket for Christmas, and it fit fine everywhere except through the middle. What? I guess wherever it was made is a country where people are shaped differently. Anyway, it's being returned, and a bigger size ordered. It won't be here until Saturday. I'm devasted because I thought today is tomorrow but Saturday isn't today. It's tomorrow. Got that? I gotta wait another day.

Pressure cooking a glob of frozen, extra lean ground beef and a boneless, skinless chick breast for doggie. Included are 2 carrots, a small red potato and a chunk of sweet potato. She will love it.

Cold but sunny here. I need to bring the trash up to the dumpster, but not in the mood.

Yesterday, my next door neighbor brought over a bowl of homemade chicken soup and it was delicious! Had it for supper and today's breakfast and froze a small container. What a treat.

Ran to Walmart yesterday to buy a new remote control for the Roku. Picked up some air freshener, 2 tap lights and looked for a new wallet. Didn't find one.

They've been cutting down a few overgrown trees in the back. OMG the saws and wood chipper sound like screaming demons from hell.

It's almost time for launching a "Today, plans and achievements 2025" thread.

Well, here it's been almost non-stop activity since the 20th or so, as we planned and prepared our house for our Winter Solstice party that happened a few days ago. Eighteen friends came starting around 7pm, so that made for a group of 20. There was lots to eat and drink (some of that non-alcoholic), since we had mustered food & treats, but the party was potluck too. A good time was had by all, and included sharing of stories and some acappella singing by about eight women.

Then there was next day clean-up here. Followed by prep for the Christmas Day arrival of couple we know (late 30s, early 40s) and their very bright, energetic, cute & charming 3-year-old daughter. Another great visit, supper, and treats occasion. (Plus gifts exchange.) They stayed overnight. Delightful.

So last night I slept about nine hours. But felt I had to do 20 minutes on the exercise bike after breakfast this morning. Now my circulation is good, and I feel fine.

Christmas was good but, it's always nice to come home.

The weather was fine, not too cold so, we went for a walk to M&S and got some non-Christmas related foodie things. They have a sale on but, nothing I liked enough to want to fill up my wardrobe although, I did get some tubes of hand cream which were half price and a little pair of nail scissors because, when I need them, I can never find them! I don't think many people are out and about yet as M&S wasn't busy at all and there wasn't much traffic either.

On the way back, we popped into the supermarket which was also quiet so, it was a quick visit to just pick up a couple of bits.

Now we can have a couple of days to prepare for the New Year celebrations. I prefer New Year to Christmas tbh. :)

Hmm... 'mixed blessings' this holiday season? Wishing you well from here.☺️

We have had very little snow so far this winter, until last night and today when it made up for lost time. I think we now have about two feet of fresh snow on the ground. Have spent the day with the shovel; neighbor came over and plowed the hard part for me. More has fallen so it needs it again. Tomorrow.

Sure got my exercise today!

I got busy before sunrise working on that walk in closet again. I reorganized some things, put them in protective plastic and labeled the box and cases they're in. Just about everything in there is in plastic garment bags, zip bags or strong clear bags because water pipes run through the closet and a couple of times over the decades there have been leaks.

I waited till about 10:45 when it warmed up a little to go to the supermarket. I only got a few things. There were no eggs to be found...not one carton! Well at least I have three left from the last carton I bought and my son has 2 dozen (we buy different kinds of eggs). My son also shopped for me after work so I put all the groceries away; most had to be refrigerated. Some items were unavailable both from the list I had and the one I texted him.

I finished updating my website this evening, emptied, reloaded and ran the dishwasher, made spinach-mozzarella ravioli (frozen) for dinner and tuna salad. I made enough of both to be able to have them for lunch and dinner tomorrow. I also did the accounting for me and my son.

I'm hoping tomorrow to set the engine back in the Chevy. Meanwhile, on a completely different subject, I finally acquired the tool and manual I need to assemble some parts I've been buying over time. Can't wait to see how the finished product comes out. Been wanting to put one of these together myself for a while, (rather than just buying one).

Sorry to hear Amy and Max are both poorly , hopefully it's just a food allergy as you say.. what breeds are they ?

Pixie is 14, but she's otherwise active .. despite her elder age, she's always been very active..

yes sadly losing dogs so soon after each other beause they were roughly the same age is what's happened to DD now.. One labradoodle in 2019, then his brothers 2 labradoodles last year died on the same day after they had to be PTS.. they were 15 and 13.. and now Pixie...

This is the first time she's only hadd one dog on their own, so she and Pixie go everywhere together, she even takes her to work..

She's no stranger to losing dogs, having owned Doggie boarding kennels... and she's had 7 dogs of her own in the past , but it breaks her heart every single time...
They are Maltese and because I am allergic to most breeds and have asthma I stick to them or poodles. Unfortunately the food allergy is the least of Amy’s problems since she has heart failure. However, I have seemed to stabilize her tummy issues and hopefully it works for max as he is much younger. It’s heartbreaking to lose our fur babies. I really feel for your daughter.

As I said a few posts ago, my MOT is due on my car in early january... so I contacted a mechanic, and he's going to come to my house at the weekend and do a Pre Mot test on my car.. so hopefully he will flag up any problems if they exist so I can have them fixed before the date of the MOT
I sympathise. My campervan needed a service and MoT at the end of Nov. After many years, it needed a new exhaust, brake pads and a couple of small parts. It wasn't so much the cost of the parts, but the labour charge - plus VAT. That was a big bill just before Christmas.

Good morning, boys and girls. It's very warm here again this morning but only expected to have a high temp of 56 today. Tomorrow and Monday in the mid-60s. It's not our usual weather for this time of year, but I'm not complaining. That is, not exactly. The new winter jacket is supposed to be here today, and if it gets here, I'm gonna go somewhere and wear it. So there. Everybody else who's out and about will be in shirtsleeves. So?

Once again, there's precious little to do except sit here on my como se llama. Sigh.

Maybe I should ease on over to @squatting dog's place and help with setting in the new engine.

What are y'all doing?

ETA: In case anybody wondered, no. I didn't win mega millions. Didn't even have one right number.

Yes, I made an appointment and the diagnosis will be "don't do that" but last night was a bit rough.
What am I going to do with jewelry which has not left the box in the last 15 years?
SO is on a play date. Izzi is not feeling well. A quick run through the house and getting lettuce. Working on the cookbook.
Does anyone have a tried and proven recipe for cheese straws? Thank you.

When I worked I wore all my jewelry and now I don’t. I gave some of my gold jewelry to my Dil, sold some and kept what I wear. I gave a bunch of my costume jewelry to the thrift store as they can easily sell it.
