Gone but not forgotten trends

When I was a freshman in college we had a centerfold from High Times magazine of a pile of Acapulco Gold topped with a real gold ingot.

I almost forgot, my roommate had a strobe light... gee surprised I'd forgotten that annoying little device.

Takes me back to late 1967, just out of college and in my first apartment, had to walk up two flights of stairs. I did manage to meet some friends in my age group at a young adult club and at work. So I would occasionally throw a party. I would have a "cheesy" strobe light (plastic disk and a light bulb) going and music being played on my Sony tape recorder. Invariably the police would show up after complaints about the noise. Fortunately management did not see fit to kick me out of the building as I was otherwise a model tenant. Ah, the good old days!!!

Back when clackers where big, Arizona State had a star running back named Darryl Clack. So the university decided to have a "Darryl Clackers" night and hand out clackers to those attending. That was a very annoying night !
We (the Lobos) kicked the bejesus out of Tempe on the grid iron in the early '70's but you guys had a half-time male baton twirler who won the hearts of us all. He was unbelievable! 😲

Funny how you seem to distort past events. ASU was 8-0 against the New Mexico in the 1970's. The combined score of all of the games in the 70's was 353-136.

Arizona State University Athletics Football History vs University of New Mexico

Sorry to have derailed the topic @bobcat but I had to defend my Sun Devils. I don't get a chance to do that often.

I guess I wasn't groovy.
I had a transistor radio, take it to the Barn Loft on free afternoons and listen.
It was 2" thick 8"long and 6"high Airline Brand, I think. Pulled in Chicago and
most Midwest AM stations skipping at night.

Listened late at night in my Bedrooms, upstairs farmhouse, sometimes cold enough
to see my Breath. Read a great book like Call of the Wild, White Fang or Heinlein's ( Sci-fi )

Hot summer nights go out the window onto the Porch roof with my radio and a pillow and sleeping
bag, once got caught in a storm and got wet. Cool ! Heard U gonna fall and break you butt! Parents yelled that.

He never nailed that window shut though. Many much cooler evenings spent on that Shaded Southeast roof too.
