Reviving seafloor with transplanted kelp

There is new hope after transplanted kelp is flourishing at Port Phillip Bay Victoria
Funding has just been granted to continue an innovative project that is growing baby kelp in a lab and transplanting it into areas that have been decimated by sea urchins that are native here, they are also relocating some urchins to give the Kelp and other seaweed a chance to grow too.

Unfortunatly human waste being pumped into the Oceans has caused a huge surge in the population of Urchins.
Still, there is hope and I am thrilled.

Kelp forests are an important element of a healthy marine/coastal environment.

The kelp can be harvested as a crop because it is used in a lot of commercially produced products such as Kelp is used to make many products such as toothpastes, shampoos, salad dressings, puddings, cakes, dairy products, frozen foods, and even pharmaceuticals.
